I was expecting A LOT because it stars Karina Suwandhi. It was promising at the start but itwent downhill at about 10-15 minutes. There are indeed creepy and disturbing but for the most part it's just plain ridiculous. And of them all, what really ticked me off is the too cool to be bothered of the exorcists. Smh. And then there are those possessions that looked like amateur breakdancers. Bad acting. It's too bad to be considered comedy. Annoying teen characters that blame their fault on their teachers and whose character development is only at 0.1%. Seriously, this entire show is like Child's Play but instead of a doll, zombies are possessed. I don't get where they are going with this. If it was about black magic or the exaggerated focus on test scores, they really could've done better.
Ok. So, if you're in any way, easily disgusted and it usually sticks with you, do yourself a favor and don't watch this. I'm not easily disgusted, myself, but this was yeesh!
On another note, I will never believe that a pair of urban dwellers, upon witnessing something frightening and unexplainable, would directly go to an unheard of rural place to seek answers.
LIKE, WHAT?! 😂🤣
Speaking as a Southeast Asian living in a provincial city, practically all my life, I have been taught ever since I was little, to NEVER venture to rural areas. If need be always go WITH a trusted local.
And yet, this pair just hopped on a bus, to God knows where, hoping to find their father's estranged family.
I tell you, if your parent/s died without telling you any of it, it's best to let it go and let it be. Maybe that was their goal, to let it die with them.
It isn't as scary as it is disturbing and disgusting. Cannibalism. Incest. Suicide. The gross factor is from start to finish but the interesting parts happen past midway.
Fadi Alaydrus (Raka) fit the bill as the gorgeous but dull twin while Yasamin Jasem (Naya) nailed it as the responsible, intuitive and anxious twin. She's got good acting skills! Meanwhile, the horror movie industry could use some pointers from Alit Aryani Willems about how to really be creepy and frightening.
No jumpscares.
No loud noises.
No freaky prosthetics or heavy makeup.
Just a person with barely contained malice in their eyes.
THAT is horrifying.
