While it has some clichés that are eyeroll-worthy (SWMMC just wakes up knowing what to do and immediately becomes the leader), it's an interesting watch. I really like the twist at the ending of the film.
However, one thing that was lacking was backstory and context for the two main male characters. According to the film, the last big disaster due to pandorum had the person suffering from it believing the ship was evil. Okay. So, why does it affect the person responsible for a disaster in this film in the way it does? Based on the difference, it's implied it's not a wholesale motivation for anyone suffering from it. So, why did he react as he did? What about his character would explain it? We don't know and never find out. In other words, we don't know enough about the character to explain why he was motivated thusly, nor why he thought his motives would appeal to the main character. They're both basically archetypes, not people. No one in the movie is a fully-fledged person. And that's a major failing of the movie.
So, if all you care about is what happens and not the people involved, it's entertaining enough. But not fleshing the characters out leads to a lack of depth that robs the viewer of any tension.
Overall, it just ends up feeling like a gorier, more violent Syfy Channel movie.
