Though the trailer is very serious, it starts very lighthearted with a lot of funny moment and making joke of some of the new kind of funerals, while the story gradually unfolds and teaches Dominic more about death and funerals, it more from comedic film to a strong drama with a lot of emotional sad moments making you tear up watching this film.
Only reason I didn't give it the full marks is that Dominic's wife suddenly gets an important arc while she disappeared for most of the film, while it felt like they could have started her arc earlier so would had a link with another arc and gave dominic a much stronger sense, while it happening late caused the link be less strong between it and felt more like last moment additional conflict at the end.
Overal this film has a lot of strong dialogues that would be remembered and especially teaching people about the Chinese Funeral Traditions and that the living also have troubled souls.

I watched Beetlejuice Beetlejuice and having seen original and grew up with the cartoon show also, it ain't really that funny, its goofy, but the writing is just odd, any conflict are dealt with too easily. There just doesn't seem to be much or any struggles. Especially after so much build up for Delores pretty much get nerfed without putting a big fight. Its very anti climatic with a lot of build up to nothing. The notice CGI being used and wish they atleast made them look more like stopmotion, by just not adding CGI motion blur and dropping the framerate, so it kept with effect style of the original film.
Overall enjoyable movie, good action with some interesting action, however bit predictable with certain action and also who are hidden villains of the movie. It's an interesting movie when you haven't watch the original hollywood movie or already forgot how that one goes.
Lau Ching Wan doing his misunderstood cop roll, has currently kinda become his character in the last several films he has been in. Francis Ng for me felt out of place as a crisis negotiation as he is also known for mostly being a bad guy in triad movies as also he speaks in a certain way it quite hard to believe it goes well in negotiations.
Personally would rather seen Lau Ching Wan as the retired Negotiator instead and either Nicholas Tse or some younger Male actor being the framed cop. As there was a parkour / free running stuff happening which felt out of place for Lau Ching Wan to do at his age.
