Wasted talent, wasted scenery, wasted premise. This movie could have been good with different writers and a different director.
I only made it a little more than halfway through the film, because I decided to stop torturing myself. If things are explained later in the film, it's too little too late because the director failed to make me care.
Why does the girl need an oxygen tank? Why is the mom in pain? Why is the dad such a jerk even when it's not a full moon? Why does the grandpa give up and abandon the girl after one minute of trying to save her? Why is Game of Thrones not listed in James Cosmo's IMDB credits? Oh; I just realized: I don't care.
That being said, I look forward to seeing more of Caoilinn Springall. She especially, but really the whole cast, deserves better than this slow, boring, pointless slogfest.
It could have been a unique spin on a timeless classic but ended up being yet another movie during which you hate most of the characters and wonder why you are watching it.

I am an American of European descent. I love the American version. I do not like the original British version. I love this Hindi version, even though I don't speak Hindi and I don't know very much about Indian culture.
Obviously, it's not very original. I'm pretty sure it's based more on the American version than the British version. It is very similar to the American version, with some minor changes that make it more culturally Indian. Since I watch the American version over and over anyway, to the point where I can recite most of the dialogue along with it, I don't mind that it is often almost a shot for shot remake. It is fun to see the classic stories acted out by new actors. Think of it like going to see a classic play, like Death of a Salesman, Equus or Hair. You don't complain that it's the same story; that's what you're there for.
The chemistry between Amit (Jim) and Pammi (Pam) is great too.

In a seemingly endless sea of absolutely unwatchable garbage which never should have been made, this decent film seems excellent, relatively speaking.
The acting is mostly good, the casting is mostly good, the music is pretty good, the editing and shaky cam are not ridiculously overdone and a few of the lines in the script are actually great, which I don't think I've been able to say for the last 100 movies I've tried to watch. For example, When Monica (Annie Hamilton) says, "This is a really good closet for hide and seek... if we decide to play." That is a great piece of dialogue which offered insight into the character's personality, the house itself, and the character's personal connection with the house. It was unexpected, funny and seemed realistic in spite of it being out of place, given the circumstance.
I love that they didn't overdo the makeup and let Tilly's (Anna Bullard's) freckles shine. That is so rare.
I don't know if they had a bowl of ice cubes on set or what, but the braless diamond cutters throughout really give you a sense of a chill in the air.
The plot and twists are actually pretty plausible as far as horror movies go.
If you're watching movies on your computer at home alone, this is about as good as your going to find these days. Hopefully it signals the beginning of the end of the crapfest the film industry has been for the last decade or so.
