I'm really a Film Nerd and I've watched many famous and less famous war movies, too. Until this Evening, the beach-sequene and the final of Saving Private Ryan was one of the most intense experiences I've seen on the big screen.
But what Berger and his teams show here is still incredible & and the most horryfying depiction of war I've ever seen before.
The violence makes you feel sick, there were really some moments I thought I have to leave the cinema. Shooting, Explosions, blood, cold, wetness, Tanks, flamethrowers and inhuman suffering. Meaningless suffering.
Yes, theire are some flaws in the Story, but Overall it works out fine. Music, acting and production design are phenomenal!
But the violience, I still can't believe it. Go watch - afterwards you'll definetley be pacifist.
8/10.

8/10.
Breathtaking worldbuilding, great Storytelling (very mysterious and partly scary with well dosed shocking moments), great actors and even better costumes as in the original movies.
Especially (young) Galadriel is a great Performance. The actress really looks like a younger Version of Cate Blanchett - Amazon, but not just a cheap copy.
I really don't understand a review under 9/10 for the first 2 Episodes. I'm really looking forward for the next Episode - if they can keep this level the season will be a worthy successor for the triology.
And I think it would workout even more better on the big screen, but that's just my opinion.

It was far too long!
And overall many great Fincher-Movies (Seven and Zodiac) have been copied (also Taxi Driver and ofcourse The Dark Knight)
Pattinsons hadn't the opportunity to develop his character in a way he would be able to.
And last but not least for me it wasn't really clear "what was the fu***** point" of the movie?
But set pieces, atmopsphere, soundtrack were fine overall.
So 7/10 are ok
A movie noboy needed.
