Valutazione di woody1950
I could tell within the first 10 minutes that this show was a total loss. The writing is just awful. It tries to be funny, but is just silly. This is the worst sort of comedy writing. It's not clever and the comedy falls flat.
A real waste of talent given the level of the actors. Some people have voted this up because of the Welsh element. There are many other Welsh tv series that are actually funny, but this isn't one of them. It's actually a bit insulting to Wales.
I feel sorry for Timothy Spall that he got pulled into something so unworthy of his talents.
Do yourself a favor and find something else to watch.

I see that this podcast had 10 seasons, and no reviews on IMDB. That must be some kind of record.
I listened to the first 1 1/2 seasons before giving up on this one. I'm a big fan of the genre, dystopic sci-fi drama, but this one did not deliver. I gave it a good try, but rather than getting better, the second season was actually worse than the first.
The dialog and the direction are both terrible. The characters are bombastic, melodramatic, and one-dimensional. The plot provides plenty of bathos, but no real emotion. Every voice actor overdoes it in every scene. Ultimately, it's intolerable and annoying.
This series was written and directed by the same person, and that might be a big part of the problem. If the writer/producer had collaborated with a different director, the story might have been salvaged. The voice actors seem competent and the production values are good. The story falls apart on the writing and direction.
So, maybe that's why there are 10 seasons and no reviews.

I listened to the first episode and was not overwhelmed, but I decided to stay with it to see if it would get better. A few minutes into the second episode, I realized that was not going to be able to finish the series.
The storyline reminds me very much of the related Derelict series. It's the same formula: flawed characters face overwhelming odds, but always miraculously survive and succeed. There are constant crises, AI characters, lots of pseudo-military space jargon, etc. Very much like Derelict.
The difference is that, while the plots are similar, the main voice acting in Derelict makes up for some of the plot deficiencies. I find it impossible to lighten to Vast, however, because the main character has only one means of expression: a never-ending whine. This actor has the most annoying voice I've ever heard. I don't know what the director might have been thinking, but the result is awful.
