Valutazione di MrBaum
The acting doesn't impress, the story seems made up and unnatural. The context wouldn't matter to a viewer unfamiliar with it. So, this really is quite disappointing, a show that is rated so high beginning on such a mediocre tone. And it's nothing against the themes of the show, rather it doesn't manage to make anything realistic or real out of it. This first episode at least reminds me of Jesus plays you would used to see in school to teach you about these stories. They were always told very eurocentrically, and weren't concerned with the revolutionary Spirit of Jesus, his love or keeping details realistic. This show didn't surprise, usually shows that feature any divisive topic are review bombed in some way on IMDb. But I'd have hoped it wasn't the case for this show. Because I would love to see a show spread the love of Jesus in an authentic and open way that could convey a divine message.
What an episode:
The cinematography, acting, story, all really excited refreshing, keeps you on toes and seems better structured then season 1. During the episode, you are uncertain where things will head next, but always excited to know what will happen. Additionally, the characters introduced and appearing in the episode seem natural in their development and actions. The main characters are being established and are established in a smooth and seamless way. This episode leaves you wanting to view the next because you are certain of one thing, this show is called squid game. So, the title must be fulfilled in form of the game. That's why we will have to see how things go in episode 2!
J. J. Abraham's "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" or Star Wars 7 is an absolute disaster, not in a visual sense, not even in a character sense but in a story sense. The creative essence to mark our current politics and world situation through means of a galaxy far far away has been method in all Star wars movies in both the originaly trilogy and the prequels. They understood how to relay psychological world topics in their storytelling. However, this movie fails to connect with reality. It lives in a world of copying, of misunderstanding and guessing what the viewer wants for attention, it is like a decent video essay on YouTube. You can't complain about the production but something just feels off about the originality of the whole thing. This movie could've gone in so many new directions, it should have completely flipped us to the outer rims of the universe, it's god's, the origins of the force, time and space distortion and so on, but instead it boxes itself into a place where it needs to check boxes of cameos and nostalgia that feel dull and lifeless. So, every scene with the Millennium Falcon is a copy of the original trilogy intended to make old heads happy, but it is so see through, so clear that this here isnt an actual review I thought up now a long time after the movie but these thoughts were exactly how I was feeling WHILE watching the movie in cinema. Everything lacks substance and originality story wise, the apprentice and the mater, the good and evil: all very binary. And the brilliant sound design, character designs, environmental designs and CGI can't make up for that because what we really remember after watching a movie isn't just whether we enjoyed the movie while watching it but whether we enjoy the movie. Notice how enjoy is in present tense, we constantly renew the question of our enjoyment towards the movie and in one instance it may change because so does our perspective and in this case once the blinding of nostalgia passes, once the details of the miraculous special effects are forgotten, then one is only left with the essence of the movie, an empty shell of the previous historical original trilogy and prequel trilogy. I would've loved to see the characters of this story floating into space to find the ultimate master of the force within the eather and realm of being beyond the self and the outer self of consciousness in-between two worlds of good and evil, unable to tell which is which.
