I love this. It makes no attempt to pretend that its some kind of historically accurate representation - costuming for example is all over the place! But the fact that the cast is diverse - and its not an issue, it just simply is - is really refreshing.
Still star crossed is the post Romeo and Juliet story, focusing on the Montague's and the Capulets in the aftermath of the teenagers' deaths. Rosaline and Benvolio are forced into an arranged marriage in an attempt to unite their families and as you can imagine, there is a rocky road ahead as these two figure out they actually DO like each other.
I've seen this show get some heat, which I don't understand. Its not the best thing on television. But its certainly not the worst. Its fun, its a period drama and thus far, the cast seem great.
I'm definitely watching.

Dominion S1 was not a production without its flaws. The narrative was problematic in places but despite its less than perfect execution, the show continued to show great promise and garner a loyal fan-base.
Season two has been an incredible revelation. Not only has the writing execution become a cohesive force, but the narrative is tight, engaging, exciting and above all, an impressive push towards the end of its second season.
I am incredibly impressed by the vast improvement in the overall quality of the show, the directing, the cinematography, the sets, costumes and the score. The introduction of Bill Brown and Deran Serafian, alongside the very capable Vaun Wilmott has made all the difference in the world.
I'm very happy that I stuck around for S2. Its been a wild ride.

I cannot stress enough how much better this show has become after just two episodes. New characters, new sets, new adventures. I could not be more pleased with the set up for these characters.
Claire is badass and making decisions that perhaps last season would have offended her sensibilities. I am really happy to see her operating independently from "the chosen one" and doing the things she considers to be right to ensure the continued survival of her people. Roxanne McKee is badass this season and I could not be more pleased.
Same can be said for Arika. Gone are the flowing gowns and slinky satins. Arika is ready to go to war and seems to have placed her bet with Claire. Love the women working together and especially love seeing the always phenomenal Anthony Head squirm under the combined muster of the ladies.
Michael is on a very interesting journey too. Having killed Becca last season, I am very interested in understanding where his character is going. Both he and Gabriel are desperately trying to find God, to hear him speak to them, to see their father returned. There is something heartbreaking about their plight and the parallel to the broken relationship between Michael and Alex.
Speaking of Alex, I have always been a fan of his relationship with Noma. Although the lovers bit seems to be put on hold, its clear they care deeply for each other and the chemistry between them is palpable. New character Pete also offers fantastic comic relief, adding a new dimension to the tone of the show.
I would be remiss if I didn't mention Simon Merells. Julian is a rockstar as the leader of New Delphi. I am so intrigued by his character. I want and need more!
Excited to see where we go next.
