Dont understand the hate. This movie may not be the best horror of the year but I really liked. Great cast. Great mood. Creepy. I think fans are too demanding. It has the Stephen King small town vibes. If this movie was released in a era of less spoiled audience it would become a classic. All the kids would be talking about it the morniing after in school. So, if you like a good old school Saturday TV horror like me this one does delivers.
The cinematography is top notch. There is fresh tropes. I love the characters even thou they could use more time to be developed, but in this day and age spending more money in a TV series that may not be well received is risk to say the least. Other horror that I liked (and I rated 10 stars) are Oddity and Longlegs.
If you are not a spoiled film buff you may enjoy your passage through Salems Lot.

The Blue Rose is a new favorite of mine. I found the vision the director and his crew created, enticing and very well crafted. The main leads are rock solid, as well as the photo and sound of the film. I am not the one to love investigative narratives, but this one had my glued on the screen. Great pacing, made me feel lots of strange emotions (I value this the most on film) and am glad this film exists. I can see influences of Lynch, Gregg Araki and noir comics been part of this creation, but The Blue Rose is much more than it's influences, it is perhaps, the first film of a great newcomer talent.
People are so spoiled. This show has lots of qualities. I guess the haters are comparing with the games or whatever. I love the games too. But I liked what they are doing with the series. If you like horror sci-fi and don't have a peanut brain, it's worth a dive into the apocalipse.
