Seriouly, how do such movies ever get made??? Who funds this kind of garbage and why?? Do writers/directors think that the majority of people are ignorant?? Some of the reviews here compare this to Gladiator, are they on some cheap drugs?? Are they trying to deceive the people again?? Was the review written be Niel Marshall himself?? Im not even going to bother trying to describe why the plot. it is so messed up. it totally insults my intelligence and if you are slightly educated it will insult yours. If anyone has any insight on Roman history this is not a film for you. Its a pure mess and the title is deceiving. This is by far the worse "Roman" I ever saw. Don't waste your time watching this crap.

Not really a Lars von Trier fan, but enjoyed Dogville so decided to give this movie a chance. I have to admit the visual/graphics/cinematography is brilliant, but the movie as a whole is demented. While watching, I kept saying to myself how sick the writer/director is, and felt that I was in his mind. Now here's the thing, I Don't wanna be in a sick mind, and if the director achieves this, he's called and "artist"?? This is the kind of trash psychopaths would enjoy. Whats next for Lars von Trier...getting in the mind of a child molester?? And should we care??? This kind of movie, unlike typical horrors, can be dangerous. Anyone that "enjoys" this movie should be profiled, and get serious help. What a world we live in.

Talk about wasting money, talent and resources. This movie just proves that although Emmerich has all the money in world, and top notch special effects at his disposal, he goes and mess it up by making 2012. Yes Im sure it will be a blockbuster, people around the world will go see this and the movie may even make a serious profit, and Hollywwod will praise Emmerich for making so much money...but thats about it. As far as the movie is concerned, its just awful. Great effects, but so exaggerated. Great actors, but no story. Any child could of made 2012. I'm not gonna complain about the $10 I wasted, but i'll complain about the effort it took me to get out of my comfy home, go to the movies, park the car, waste another 10$ on candy, sit through 2 hours of crap, back in the car and home. I tell you, I have absolutely no pity for Hollywood.
