I was only 9 years old in 1968, but I was an avid television watcher, and I loved this TV show.
My parents got me a Julia "Barbie" doll, even though I did not have any regular Barbie dolls. (We are a Caucasian family.)
It is almost 40 years since I have seen an episode of Julia, but reading the other comments triggered a little memory for me.
I remember the morality of the show. I remember respecting Julia. I remember liking her little boy for his respectfulness toward his mom. I remember it was an intelligent show, not a silly one.
I loved this show.

I just finished watching this. It was absolute torture. This version is like a low budget television production with poor quality sound recording, and harsh lighting situations more likely to be found on a homemade video tape.
The actors looked like they were acting. It was like watching a local high school play. Out of the 5 hours, there were about 20 seconds of real acting, and I'm being generous.
The screenplay was fine, though some dialog was placed out of sequence with the book. Some of the original writing was very good.
I liked the last half hour because they included a dinner gathering at Longborne before Darcy's proposal. Darcy's proposal scene was satisfying. The ending was good.
Overall, it is not worth buying or renting.
If you want to spend 5 hours of your life on Pride & Prejudice, I recommend the BBC version made in 1995, with Colin Firth.
I also recommend the 2 hour version with Kiera Knightly from 2005.
