A lot of the reviews here focus on the film's plot, character, and it's commentary on a not too distant future.
These are all worthy topics. But would stood out to me most was the pure technical proficiency of almost all aspects of the film.
Enormous credit has to be given to the director, Pascal Plante, who's cinematography gripped with every shot. Some of the scenes were not only visually impressive, but also highly creative and packed with unspoken symbolism (I would highlight a certain zooming long shot of the judicial audience - truly inspired).
The acting was subtle, nuanced and perfectly executed. The music did exactly what it needed to, and more in some instances. The pacing kept up the intensity while giving rest where needed and taking time to explore.
Was it absolutely perfect? No, but find me something that is. It was nonetheless will stick with me as an evocative experience and proof that cinema is a art form that can be honed and mastered.
Highly highly recommended.

I enjoyed the series while also recognising that it isn't everything that it could have been.
In terms of narrative, it faithfully hits all the major plot points of the Second World War. Though the pundits and 'live action recreations' are sometimes a hit, sometimes a miss.
The recolourised archival footage is truly spectacular. It brings the war from the myth of history to a lived human experience.
This is particularly relevant now. Democratic decline is a rising tide. One that we are only beginning to wrestle with (even outside obvious examples). Appeasement in the face of imperialist aggression is spoken of as the lesser evil. These are dangerous waters and they are not new. History must be understood if it is not to be repeated.
This is why I forgive the show for it's inclusion of politicians. Even those who probably have no right to be there.
The link that it makes from the past to the present (aided through colour footage) is enough for me to view their inclusion as having value.
Is the show a masterpiece? No. Did I enjoy it as someone with an interest in history. I did indeed.

Every moment of this documentary is both playful and yet profoundly moving. It allows the personalities of both Barry and Joan to breath and shine through so that you feel like you've known them your entire lives... and what people to know.
Unparalleled in raw talent and yet humble to the core. Average, yet extraordinary. They exude this delight that they want all around them to join. A ring of playful merriment that is so pure and true and deeply human.
Every movement, syllable and intonation is the embodiment of human character in Barry. Each face and posture feel like a perfect sculpture. He effortlessly moves from one masterpiece to the next. But it is the stillness. That is his power. The control is sublime to watch.
And sweet Joan. Never have you seen anyone so adorable. It's like every grandma combined into one who can somehow crack out any piano tune you like, one handed, talking to the dancers across the room.
If you have any inclination towards theatre, comedy, history, music, or people, I'd highly recommend you watch this short film.
