I think 10 minutes removed from the run time would have been a good idea. You would have a fun family film if the gore aspect were removed. As I watched, that thought crossed my mind. It is a breezy, fun action ride, but I found the end very schmaltzy, much like an old Disney film. I'm not sure if it may have started that way, and then someone decided to add some violence, and it became adult. If you took Dumbo, and added gore and dark humour you get the idea? The film was fun, I would wait for streaming.

My low rating is for season 2. I would rate the first season as 8, but that is now many years ago, and much like the real Tudors, it lies hazy on reflection. Season two was very slow and could have been done in perhaps three episodes, not six. Why do several historical narratives feel the need to place black actors into historical roles that were white people? A series recently made Anne Boleyn a black person; another was the need for Cleopatra. It all seems silly. Bridgeton is a fantasy, so mixed race is fine, let's. Leave history as it was and educate. I await a historic drama about Martin Luther King, played by Tom Cruise! Watch season one, then read the book.
I enjoyed this film; well acted and not a horror, more a mystery who dunnit. It is a relatively slow burn, but I was intrigued by the characters and invested in them. The characters, though few in number, were all fleshed out with their own unique quirks and motivations, adding depth and complexity to the story. A score of 7 may be a little high, but so many reviewers giving this a 3 or 4, in my opinion, is rather mean. It contains some blood and a little violence, which is nothing you won't have seen on a BBC production; it is well crafted and unexpected. I don't think anyone who is a Who Dunnit fan or enjoys a good mystery will believe their time was wasted by watching this. Look elsewhere if you are after blood, gore, and supernatural happenings.
