After all the nominations and wins, my wife and I finally saw this -- I love this era of soul music, so i was really excited about the music. For the most part the music was good...some overblown American Idol theatrics and shrieking instead of singing, but overall good. I was also excited to see the acting...and in the end I wasn't that impressed. Jennifer Hudson seems to be everyones favorite this year, but I didn't think she had to do to much acting...it was good to see a newcomer, so confident in a role -- but in regards to actual nominations, this is probably the last you'll see of her. Eddie Murphy was good in his very small role, I wish that he was given more dialog or more story...if he wins the Oscar, I guess it's the Academy giving him an award for the bulk of his work. But, Hudson clearly shouldn't win...I hope the Academy looks to the Babel nominees, who had to act, not make music videos with emotion! Costumes and make-up were great, Beyonce's role shadowed her real life...in the sense, beautiful woman, good in various forms, singing, dancing, acting...a great product. Not actual a standout in any of them. In the end OK movie, overrated....definitely.

Well, I had the luck to see not one but two preview screenings of this film. I'm a film zealot and a huge Jackie Chan fan. Unfortunately, for JC fans this is a real let down. There are I believe only 3 fight/action scenes. The editing and filming of those scenes are not very good. Chan is shown to be super fast with the Tuxedo on...therefore everything is sped up, which unfortunately shortens actions scenes, and makes it difficult to see what's happening.

Chan always has great charm on-screen. This translates well for all the comedy in the movie. There's a lot of comedy...and it's a good laugh.

Jennifer Love Hewitt is stunning throughout the movie. Her and Chan worked well together, but the story was hokie and ultimately a waste. The idea of the super Tuxedo was interesting, but it could have been handled better than this. Some of the dialogue is just atrocious. A more serious, but overall better recent movie release for Chan fans can be found in "The Accidental Spy." Another recent highlight "Shanghai Noon" has great humor and superior filming. Let's hope that sequel does Chan some justice.

I was definitely worried after reading countless bad articles in the paper and on the web, but I tell you...it's a all a lie. Star Wars II is amazing, incredible, awesome. "Spider-Man" is a faint memory beside this film. "Phantom Menace" was let's face it, a little bit of a letdown -- I did enjoy the film, but it had a great many faults. This film is fantastic...people complain about the dialogue and the acting. Portman is excellent as always, and Christensen is remarkable in possibly one of the most difficult roles ever! I mean, it's been built up since the release of the Star Wars IV! There's dumbed down, teenage lovey-dovey talk, but what they hell are they suppose to say -- yes, he's a jedi and she's a senator, but they're still teenagers, who just fell in love. Lucas' direction is a lot more confident, and he leaves the comic relief to people like Obi-One and C3PO & R2 -- definitely a smarter choice then Jar-Jar. Jar-Jar was bad, but if Lucas had cut some scenes from "Phantom" -- the backlash would not have been as bad. SO...go see the movie. It's still on one of the most amazing plots and stories you'll ever see. The intricacies are astounding...and yes the special effects are incredible. Bottom LIne, tell the critics to shove it and go watch it; you will not be disappointed!
