I'm a pretty big fan of Kurt Russell's I'd say, but this has to be the worst movie I've ever seen him in. His over-acting was distracting and juvenile.
I couldn't quit thinking about how "overboard" (to make a pun on his film with Goldie Hawn) he went with his acting here. But Martin Short was wonderful and adorable, as usual! He was the reason I stayed with this movie.
And Mary Kay Place--the multi-multi-talented actress, singer, screenwriter, director, etc.-- was incredible too. Which was no surprise.
I was just so bored with Kurt Russell here.
I kept picturing Jimmy Buffett in that role. Now that would have been great!

While I tend to agree with the other Grace reviews, I find her boyfriend Danny to be the most annoying actor in this series. I have to fast forward when he comes on. Geez. The guy can't act and his lines are so feeble.
Maybe he and Grace deserve each other and then Ben Stone can partner up with the lovely female doctor. Little Cal is quite sweet and a good actor. Production companies are turning out so many Netflix mini series (Do we still call them that?) that of course quality is going to be compromised. I am even seeing so many of the same actors appear in multiple shows.
Can't decide if I will continue watching. I do find myself thinking about the show the day after, but maybe I should skip to the last few episodes and be done with it.

To find a modern day movie filmed in black & white is so refreshing and unusual, but this one went one step further in presenting an art movie set in the far West.
The scenery was gorgeous--maybe Sonoma County since the opening credits simply said Northern Calif.
Yes, it was slow moving but rich in dialog, acting and plot. Director and star, Perry King, really reminded me of Richard Farnsworth--in voice and looks and even his acting essence. He was a joy to watch as his complicated character presented kindness, crankiness, and delusions due to dementia. It's a heart-warming story that sticks with you as so many people must deal with aging issues in family now.
