I saw a viral TikTok about this show so I decided to give it a try. All in all it wasn't terrible but it's one of those shows where the credits start rolling on the final episode and you ask yourself "did I just waste 5 hours of my life?"
In my opinion it was a lot easier to watch that 'Fool Me Once.' Which is another show on Netflix based on a Harlan Coben book. I only made it through 2 episodes of that series and I did watch the entirety of 'Missing You.'
Overall, I could have overlooked it's many flaws if the conclusion was brilliant (which I was really hoping for) but in the end it felt lackluster.

The first few episodes infuriated me. Mare was unlikeable, rude, abrasive, self absorbed. The atmosphere was stressful, upsetting, bleak. So many of the characters were deeply flawed and hard to empathize with. That is the mastery of this show, it's humanity. A small town full of people trying to survive what life throws at them. It's not pretty nor easily digestible and that is what makes it all the more real and moving. The final episode's message was one we all need to be reminded of throughout our lives. Forgive yourself, forgive others and don't give up on people, even when they push you away.

I'm not sure exactly why but the trailer and premise of this show never interested me. I kept seeing it rise on the popular tv show imdb page but each time I thought 'no, not for me.' That was until yesterday when I saw it's ranking and looked through some of the reviews and thought I'd give the pilot episode a go...
Here we are, less than 48 hours later, 8 episodes watched and I LOVED it.
The character development, depth and relationships in this series is truly wonderful. However those characters & relationships are FAR from wonderful.. mostly all of them are extremely flawed & easy to hate for various reasons but this series expertly pulls back their layers and shows their humanness alongside their treachery.
Honestly just give it a go and let it surprise you!
