I've watched every Western genre film out there, but this one takes the cake as both the funniest and cringiest movie I've ever seen. I'm not even 20 minutes in, and I already can't believe what I'm watching. Did they just grab the actors off the street? Most of them deliver their lines with as much enthusiasm as a high school play. The script is unintentionally hilarious, and the acting is just as laughable. I actually thought this was a low-budget film from the 1990s, but to my shock, it's from 2024! The poor representation of Native Americans in the plot only adds to the disaster. It's no wonder the ratings are so low.
Yes, you read the title of this review correctly. James Horner is one of the greatest composers of our time, and his score for this film is no exception-it's absolutely beautiful. The cinematography is impressive, and while the acting performances are generally solid, Brad Pitt stands out with a particularly strong performance.
However, the plot leaves much to be desired. The film aims to focus on the three brothers, but the storyline becomes scattered, especially in the third act. Although it is labeled as a romance/western, the romantic elements wasn't what I expected. I was expecting a straightforward romance and a focus on the bonds between the brothers, but the film turned out to be much more complex than that and I have mixed feelings about the ending.
