War is absolute hell, something that only veterans Will ever understand. The first scene in saving private Ryan and the movie come and see are the only times I've seen a movie showcase what war really is, death agony, mortal fear.
This series showc soldiers with limbs missing joking about it. After an artillery barrage going for minutes made a tree almost fall into a foxhole a soldier makes a pun.
This is a very cozy depiction of war, we're trauma isn't a thing. It is the way many people want to look at war. But it isn't even close to reality. I recommend the movie come and see and the first scene in saving private Ryan if you wan't a somewhat realistic view.
I'm from Sweden so sorry for bad English.

In this film, the war seems more like a natural disaster, something out of everyone's control. The Italians are victims, just as much as everyone else. In reality, they're the ones to blame. A movie like this could never be made in Germany.
The movie is also poorly executed. Many scenes feels completely unnecessary and the acting is awkward. Inside the sub looks completely unrealistic with large areas and a square roof. It's hard to imagine that they're actually in the long thin submarines of WW2.
The action scenes are confusing, I had a hard time understanding what happens and why most of the time. Not only because the cgi is terrible but they're also poorly coordinated.
Overall, this is a terrible movie where the Italians feel sorry for themselves.

Das Boot" from 1981 is an absolute masterpiece that transcends time and genre. Its gripping portrayal of life aboard a German U-boat during World War II is nothing short of mesmerizing. The attention to detail in recreating the claustrophobic confines of the submarine, coupled with the intense performances by the cast, immerses the audience in the harrowing reality of warfare beneath the waves.
Director Wolfgang Petersen's vision is breathtaking, capturing both the beauty and brutality of the ocean depths with stunning cinematography. The tension builds relentlessly as the crew faces unimaginable challenges, showcasing the resilience of the human spirit in the face of adversity.
What truly elevates "Das Boot" is its exploration of the bonds forged in the crucible of combat. The camaraderie among the crewmembers, their struggles, fears, and moments of triumph, resonate deeply, leaving a lasting impact on the viewer. It's a testament to the power of storytelling to evoke empathy and understanding across time and cultures.
The score by Klaus Doldinger is hauntingly beautiful, enhancing the emotional depth of the film. From the quiet moments of reflection to the pulse-pounding action sequences, every note adds to the immersive experience.
In an era dominated by grand spectacles and melodramas, "Das Boot" stands out as a testament to the power of subtlety and nuance. It's a film that lingers in the mind long after the credits roll, inviting reflection on the nature of war, sacrifice, and the resilience of the human spirit.
In conclusion, "Das Boot" is a cinematic tour de force that deserves to be celebrated for generations to come. It's a timeless classic that continues to captivate audiences with its unparalleled storytelling and craftsmanship.
