You might, I suppose, view this as a superior cartoon given the standards of the period, when budgets and schedules had shrunk along with the number of theaters that still offers a show of a feature and selected short subjects. Still, given the shoddy look, and obnoxious voice work on display here, the question arises: who would select a short subject like this one?

It's hard to believe there was stilla market for theatrical cartoons, especially with awful ones like this one. Perhaps it was simply a matter of 20th Century-Fox having a contract with Terrytoons, and CBS (which owned the cartoon production company at this time) wanting too much money to let Fox out of the contract; produce a cheap enough cartoon, and hey, presto! A profit.

There are some gags that might be amusing in their pain-happening-to-someone-else way were the artwork on this late Terrytoon not so simplified and abstract as to remove any connection to someone injuring themselves. This happens several times, and it never gets any funnier.
