Can't believe all the eight, nine and ten ratings...white guilt, maybe... first off, i haven't read any of the books yet, but i intend to. But not till i finish all three season because i believe one of the first reviewers who said that the series doesn't do justice to the books...that it skates the surface of some rich storytelling...because, after a while, that's how it was coming through to ME...there were parts that i really enjoyed...like he said, some of the acting was pretty good...particularly, the lead actor who plays Leaphorn. SOME of the acting, though was ridiculously amateurish...and the writing wobbled like a calistoga with loose wheels...it seemed like it was all OVER the place...and the editing helped with the wobble... i love the landscape, though...i've lived in Phoenix for a while...back around the time that the show's story took place...early 70s...i have a particular fondness for the desert. So those picturesque shots were enough to keep my interest... i'm hoping that the second season is better. I'll see soon enough.

I'm writing this while i'm on my knees, thanking the gods for fast forward...after the first fifteen or twenty minutes i could not WAIT for this thing to be over...i underSTOOD it, but...what was the point? Was the point that life is pointless? That relationships are pointless? That noone knows who they are? Should i have gotten real drunk to 'get in the mood' of the story?

Was the point of the story to leave me confused and/or depressed? In case you were thinking of seeing this(and i couldn't WAIT to see it once i knew it was written by Charlie Kaufman) this review is NOT a recommendation...but...see it if you must. Just remember i warned you.

I WAS going to give this movie a five rating... but then i read the featured review and decided to downgrade it a star... yeah...Lovecraft, blah blah blah...i guess i'm not into him. Actually, this is ironic since i'm in the middle of the latest Stephen King. Which just goes to show that genres are just generalizations and it's the specifics that count.

I couldn't make my mind up, after getting past the first forty five minutes or so, if this was a comedy or a horror movie...or scifi... somebody should've fixed the dish so that the wifi worked better...it's sad that joely richardson needed the money badly enough to do this movie...Cage doing the movie makes sense...he gets to act crazy... AND get paid to do it...in any cage, in case this hasn't become obvious, this review is not a recommendation to see this movie... it wasn't TOtally terrible...like some of the reviewers said, some of the visuals were fun...especially if you're doing drugs. Maybe THAT was what i did wrong...saw it without that benefit...maybe it's a breath mint...
