I watched this movie after Anyone But You in 2024. Both of them are rom-com, but this one is not really that great, other than Keanu Reeves' entry slo-mo and Randall Park's rap.
The stars and their performance in this movie have no problem. But don't know why, just couldn't feel that deep intertwined uncuttable relationships between Sasha and Marcus. Especially the high-school scene, Randall Park looks young and great, but not defintely not high-school young. It defintely shocked me hearing the adult-look Marcus saying him gonna drop out college.
I guess it's really important to make viewers feel that accelerated heartbeat struck by love for the rom in 'rom-com'.
Regarding the latter part of rom-com, this show is doing pretty good and can't critisize anything around it, and I believe that's the strength of Ali Wong and Randall Park.
Final words, even though I only gave 5/10, but I really wish to see them to try and make more movies or maybe TV shows that may suit them more, because I do believe they still have potentials. If making movies again in the same genre, adding a bit more heartfelt romance would defintely help.

The beginning of this movie says it's based on the classified Churchill documents that have been unlocked in the last decade, but the whole movie did give me a very unreal and fairytale feeling, but it's the good unreal.
I'm not sure if this really happened at that time or not, and not sure if it happened like what this movie shows or not, but these questions don't matter to me anymore, because my attention is all retained by another question.
The whole action in this movie is so smooth, like butter on the hot pan, or a RPG shooting game on its easiest mode. Most of the times, I would feel belief suspense or boring, but while watching this movie, on the contary, I felt just absolutely great and soothing. I can't understand why I feel this way and this questions has been bothering me since then. I guess maybe it's because the 'based on true story' thing at the beginning set an expectation for me and then the real story goes the other way surprises me in a good way. I am still not sure.
But whatever, I enjoyed this movie a lot, and would like to re-watch it and try to analyse it. I remember the music in it is really impressive. Maybe that will be my starting point.
Also Alan Ritchson's decades effort on workout now is really paying back. With this muscle, those fighting scenes with him look really great!

I like most of Guy Ritchie's works. This one following its original on the big screen is no exception.
I didn't take this too serious before watching, because I thought, spin-off, you know, sometimes is equal to watered down. But this show itself is quite amazing. Even though they didn't get all A-list stars in this show, but the music and its theatrical smell are killing with no mercy. And it's getting super along with the topic and story setting as well.
The second season is on its way. Of course I don't know the story in the second season, but I really want the duke and Suisse just be together, and work the story from there, like the couple in the original movie.
And one last thing I wish for in the second season is, hopefully we can see more depth in Your Grace's characteristic. Afterall he is going to be the king in that world, and I hope it's not a big ask to dig deeper in his inside world to support his actions and decisions.
Till then, let's cross our fingers and hope I won't be let down. ^_^
