Valutazione di HolokaiZero
Overall it's got the production quality of it after school special or Hallmark Channel movie. The story actually isn't bad, but the scripting is. And that juxtaposition of concept is prevalent throughout the movie. From a technical aspect is clear to see that people do what they were doing but there's no energy or creativity or drive or anything interesting about really any of it. Basically it's got all the credentials, but really just certified boredom. At no point does the film start getting "more interesting". One of the things this movie does do well, is that it gives you a very strong desire to turn it off. Whatever you do, do not resist that urge.
I really enjoyed this film. It's a simple script supported by very good acting, wonderful direction, enigmatic settings, beautiful cinematography and stunning scenery. It's a film that gives you time to think and feel and interpret it in your own way get this plenty to relate to and appreciate. Waking up on a chez lounge on the beach to a gray morning. Almost the entirety of the film help me in the moment not for the script or the acting but the serenity, isolation and simplicity of the entire production. It was all very, very well done. In fact, perhaps a stronger script would have detracted from what I ultimately find so enchanting about this film. The last the simplicity of the script left so much of the interpretation of the movie to the viewer that it worked incredibly well with all the other components and aspects that made this such a beautiful work. Although not a masterpiece, it is a film in which you can lose and or find pieces of yourself..
I love a good whodunit and police shows like Law and Order. I like Kaitlin and the idea of her character but the cops are just way too stupid. It's just standard writing tropes and idiocy. It just gets stupider and stupider. I love Judy Reyes but the character they wrote for her is just a dumb wet noodle. The whole thing is written like a crappy TV drama mixed with an after-school special. If you watch this and aren't just the slightest bit insulted by its predictable stupidity not necessarily of plot but of interaction, standard dialogue and quid pro quo you are accepting too little of yourself and life. Even the low quality cheesy background score and music is itself indicative of how cloyingly package whole thing is. And the whole concept of her Savant like capabilities being undercut by her lack of impulse control results in her being a night cleaning lady yet a mother of three school age children during the day it's crazily implausible and just another insult to our basic concept of reasonability and rationality. If they could do this without making the cops seem so stupid and negative it would be probably 30 to 40% better even with its tropie hackeshness. I'd be surprised if there's a season 2, but this looks exactly like something that studio wanted and that's what they got. So it would be the same hacks for the most part making the decision on a season 2 or not. Granted the viewership numbers of the overall impetus there. And at the moment they are subpar but close to borderline.
