I watched Amitabh Chatterjee's Bengali psychological thriller "Aadim."
The film tells the story of a young married couple who, due to the loss of sexual attraction, contemplate ending their marriage. To give their relationship one last chance, they decide to take a few days off and go to the forest to immerse themselves in nature.
Rich in symbols and metaphors, the story unfolds against the backdrop of the forest. For instance, there is a mysterious woman at the homestay, an elephant running loose, an injured person who enters their car in the forest at night, and an overdose of insulin. Analyzing these various metaphors through your own imagination adds a unique layer of enjoyment to the viewing experience.
The film explores the basic human instincts of fear, sexual desire, and the struggle for existence. When one's existence is threatened, the façades of civilization, morality, and sophistication can collapse, allowing primitive instincts to take control. With such a profound theme, the movie provides a nightmarish experience while simultaneously provoking thought. I really enjoyed it and recommend it!

While watching the film, I experienced an intellectual engagement similar to solving a challenging math problem. Instead of solely focusing on the director's intentions, we can gain a deeper understanding by examining the symbols, motifs, and metaphors presented and analysing them through our life experiences and imagination. This approach allows our subconscious to connect with the movie, creating a more meaningful cinematic experience.
The film explores themes such as loneliness amid others, the physical limitations of ageing, curiosity about others' private lives, and how an obsession with the virtual world can alienate individuals from reality. It creatively illustrates how fictional worlds can act as an escape from real life. The director's innovative use of visual language to address these themes is commendable.
Paran Bandopadhyay, a prominent figure in Bengali acting, beautifully portrays the lonely older man in this film. The supporting cast also provides strong performances.
Since the director also wrote the screenplay, his overall control over the film is evident. I highly recommend this movie.

This movie is good. It tells the story of a young boy with a big dream who is fighting an illness. This theme engaged me deeply and emotionally. The film highlights hope, passion, resilience, family, love, and sacrifice, which everyone can relate to. It focuses on the characters and balances their internal struggles with outside challenges. The strong emotional bond between the father and son adds depth to the experience. The director handles this sensitive topic carefully.
However, it is not an excellent movie because the plot is familiar and predictable. Overall, it is an emotionally effective movie.
