I have to say as much as I like Pillow Talk, Lover Come Back is funnier!
Rock Hudson said after Pillow Talk, he and Doris Day could not look at each other because they kept laughing. You can almost see in some of the scenes that Rock is close to cracking up.
It's a similar premise of mistaken identity. Rock is Jerry Webster, a playboy who wins advertising accounts with wild parties, booze, and women. Day is competitor Carol Templeton, a woman in a man's world. When she learns how Webster won a client from her, she drags him before the ad council, calling as a witness Miss Rebel Davis (Edie Adams).
However, Rebel has already made commercials for Jerry's latest account VIP. There is no VIP but Jerry had to keep Rebel from testifying against him.
Jerry is desperate to have a chemist (Jack Kruschen) invent VIP, and Carol wants to find out about the product. She mistakes Jerry for the isolated chemist, Linus Tyler, a naive man who knows nothing of the world - and women.
Sexist, misogynistic, and absolutely hilarious, Lover Come Back is masterfully directed by Delbert Mann. Tony Randall is the cowed President of the agency where Jerry works, and he's a scream, terrified of his dead father and on a hotline to his psychiatrist.
There is an in-joke when Jerry, left 39 miles from town with no clothes, hitches a ride with a furrier and walks into a lobby wearing a mink. Two men Jack Albertson and Charlie Watts) who have been marveling at his perceived success with women agree: "He's the last person I would have suspected." Hudson really mocks his macho image throughout.
The color photography is wonderful. Doris is gorgeous in some fabulous outfits, though her hats left something to be desired. It was producer Ross Hunter who glamorized her image, feeling that her looks and figure had not been shown to the best advantage in films before Pillow Talk. He was right!
Day and Hudson had such sparkling chemistry, I wish they had made more films together. What a shame. Great send-up of advertising and lots of fun.

Director Brian Gibson has assembled an excellent cast for his 1996 film, The Juror, starring Demi Moire, Alec Baldwin, Anne Heche, Tony LoBianco, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and James Gandolfini.
Moore is Annie, a single mom and sculptress who is called for jury duty in a murder case. The defendant, Boffano (LoBianco) is accused of ordering the murder of a Federal informant and his family, including a young boy.
A gentleman, Mark Cordell (Baldwin) buys three of Annie's pieces, and the gallery pays her $12,000. During a conversation with him, he informs Annie that she has to make sure the jury acquits Boffano; otherwise, her son (Gordon-Levitt) will be killed.
Her house and phone are bugged, and she sits through the trial in a state of anxiety. Once she gets into the jury room, it's worse, as all but one other person knows Boffano is guilty.
Her friend, a doctor (Heche) advises her to tell the Judge (Michael Constantine) her son is ill, but when she attempts to speak with him (and we're not sure what she plans on saying) he wants the defense and prosecution there. She changes her mind. After that, her situation becomes extremely terrifying.
I thought this was a very good, scary, suspenseful film with terrific performances. Baldwin who seems to be actually the big boss, is a true monster. Gandolfini comes off as kinder, but they're all thugs.
Chilling.

If you want to learn how to boost (i.e. Steal) cars, the fast-moving 2000 film Gone in 60 seconds is for you.
Directed by Dominic Sena, the film stars Nicholas Cage as Memphis Raines, who before leaving the life was one of the best car thieves in the business. In fact, Long Beach car theft dipped 47% when he retired.
However, he is forced to return when his brother Kip's (Giovanni Ribisi) life is on the line after he fails at a job for the evil Raymond Calitri.
Calitri demands 50 cars of various exotic makes in shipping containers by 8 am Friday morning. It is now Monday.
Raines lines up his ex- girlfriend (Angelina Jolie) and others from his old crew to help. Meanwhile, the cops know he's up to something.
Laser keys, hot wiring, all kinds of devices are used - fascinating and also scary. These guys think nothing of driving through a showroom window to get the car they want or breaking into an impound lot. They use a computer hacker to get into the DMV and locate the vehicles they want.
The end has some real pyrotechnics, as Raines races to make the deadline and stay ahead of the police. Some pretty fancy driving, that's all I will say.
Exciting, somewhat mindless entertainment.
