The Taking of Pelham One Two Three has been on my "to watch" list for years. I'd heard that it was good, but I also figured I had seen so many films of this ilk that it wouldn't be all that distinctive, i.e. Just another crime thriller. Boy, was I wrong.
This is one of the finest action films ever made. Everything about it works. The performances, the direction, the editing, the dialogue, and especially the music are all outstanding. Every character, from the leads to the most minor roles, is fleshed out. Watching it, you feel like you understand everyone's background, motivations, etc. And there's a lot of story packed into the running time, but nothing feels forced or unnecessary.
I could go on and on about how great this film is, but the time you spend reading my review is time you could instead use to watch this excellent film and see for yourself.
