Clara Bryant plays Trudy Walker, a self-absorbed teen with a twin brother Eddie, who is mentally handicapped, likely a form of autism, though it wasn't discussed. Eddie, played by Shia LaBeouf (Even Stevens), is a very kind and tender young person who lives life very simply. His heart is full of love. Trudy struggles to be understood as the stressed-out teen that she is. Eddie's father struggles with his work as a brain surgeon and with his outrageous temper problem. The mother struggles with maintaining a healthy and balanced household, which is not easy with Tru going through her drama-queen years.
This is the most emotional movie dealing with the subject of the mentally handicapped that I've ever seen. As someone with a friend who has such disabilities, I can say that I never knew the half of what it really is like.
Should you ever be so blessed as to make a friend with autism or similar handicap, you will see that this movie speaks a lot to those closest to the autistic in so many special ways. It also opens your heart to new levels of tenderness and compassion, and your life will never be the same again. I give this movie 10 out of 10 stars.

To understand "Crash Course" in the right context, you must understand the 80's in TV. Most TV shows didn't have any point. The sitcom outpopulated the drama at least 3 to 1. They were still figuring out where the lines were so that they could cross them. (TV Shows like "Hail to the Chief" was quite the bold step!) This made-for-TV movie "Crash Course" featured an All-Star cast, bringing together members from all the 80's classics: "227", "Family Ties", "Who's the Boss?", et al. Directors must've had a certain penchant for those all-star movies then. Still, this movie offered very light fare and a simplistic view of heroism and maturity. And that's not bad sometimes. Viva Soleil Moon Frye.
Fans of Jackie Chan flicks come in all flavors. Some appreciate the funny, most appreciate Jackie's unique fight choreography. This movie is only the second that I've seen that has two "leading ladies" (The other being "Operation Condor"). One thing that this movie has LESS of is fighting using various inanimate objects (such as the ladder in "Jackie Chan's First Strike")
Watch for Jackie's super-stunt where he uncoils himself from a 30-foot(est.) platform.
Michelle Ferre is an extremely attractive lady, IMHO.
