This film is so enjoyable. It's one of those movies you could only get when there were privately owned video rental shops, probably bought at a discount rate from some video wholesaler that gives people the opportunity to purchase large grab bags of cheap films instead of one or two expensive ones. When I found this one back in the late eighties, I was on a bad fantasy film kick, and this one beats 'em all. It's better even than any installment in the almighty "Deathstalker" series! If you can find it, have fun with this one. I'm sure the film makers did. I'm still trying to figure out if it's not one of the greatest movies ever made.

This movie sucks. It is, however, the suckiest movie that I have ever wanted to watch about 50 times in my lifetime. This is the definitive punk-fiction film. No other movie more accurately portrayed what it was like to grow up in the punk scene in the eighties, and it's one of the only films to show what it was like to squat in the punk scene in Los Angeles. It's true, if you get a bunch of real punks and attempt to make them actors and get Roger"Carnosaur"Corman to produce it, you should probably expect something to this effect, but the hammy dialogue and acting are part of the charm. I wholly related to this movie as a teenager, and will always look back fondly upon it. Cheers to Penelope Spheeris, for creating a PR classic.

This is the best comic book to film adaptation ever. Many people will disagree with me for saying this, I know. But no other comic book adaptation has more faithfully mirrored the style and purpose of the comic it was adapted fom at the time it was created. The original Batman comics by Bob Kane and Bill Finger were dark, for 1930's standards, but after the inception of the Comics Code Authority, comic books were not allowed to show, well, much of anything. So DC did what they had to do to sell comics to kids: they made 'em goofy! And what goofy fun Batman was. This is supposed to be funny! People actually believe that Alfred Pennyworth wearing glasses on top of a robber's mask to disguise himself as batman is actually supposed to be realistic!!? I'd like to see any of the new comic-to-film adaptations have the gall to stay this true to the comic book.

This movie/show was a great achievement, and still an inspiration.
