Valutazione di biffbifferman
This cartoon suffers from looped animations and recycling their own gags. Jerry suckers Tom multiple times by performing a magic trick: conjuring a tomato concealed under a handkerchief; splat. Jerry ALWAYS wins. Even in the MGM cartoons, Jerry, on rare occasions, outsmarts himself or Tom gets the best of him. Every Droopy cartoon featured Slick Wolf, which made every short hopelessly one-note and predictable. Tom & Jerry & Droopy don't put much of a twist on the old formulas. It doesn't exactly suck. Once in a while, you may see an incredibly funny sight gag. Otherwise, a fresh spin on a traditional classic just flat-lines.
It's not exactly Toy Story. It's more adult, only without a single profane word. There is death in this movie. Also, most important to me, none of the usual superhero clichés. What little there were wasn't objectionable. The kids weren't annoying. Thank heaven the baby's role was kept to a minimum. The soundtrack is totally original. Some cues are reminiscent of a Bond film, but sounds nothing like a Batman or Superman film. The music is all over the place. Buy the soundtrack and listen to Track 9: Kronos Unveiled. Very melodic, slowly increasing in intensity. The end titles kick ass and all the other tracks are excellent! The timing of this film is dead on. Forget it's a great cartoon, it's a flat-out great movie.
In this series, Freddy was the Crypt Keeper before there was Tales from the Crypt. Many episodes he just bracketed the beginning and end of each story and there were usually two stories per hour. Typically, the supporting character of story 1 became the lead character in story 2. The series, at its best, featured Freddy throughout the hour. Those episodes are out on video. Otherwise, some stories were just simply horrid and god-awful for its plots, special effects, and background music. As much as I'm a cult fan of Freddy, this series suffers from a television budget and therefore, everything scary, ominous and foreboding just comes off campy and laughable. My local affiliate canceled the series at the end of season 1. I would still enjoy seeing season 2. I really would buy the complete series on DVD if it ever gets made.
