Richard Franklin's "PATRICK" is a great little thriller that never lacks interest or something related to the overall story (although it may seem at times that there are some irrelevant scenes). The character of "Patrick" himself is one that generates lots of curiosity and will keep you wanting to watch till the end, all performances are great although Susan Penhaligon is slightly dull as the heroine, nevertheless Robert Helpmann, Rod Mullinar and Julia Blake give some of the performances of their respective careers in this. Hitchcock would be very proud of seeing this one.

This film is an absolute classic. It is hillarious in all aspects.

But you must see the full length version of it. The English video copy has different (boring) music and almost looks it has been edited to try and give this movie some serious credibility (which is definitley impossible), whereas the one available on video in Australia is the raw thing in all its raw glory. Although the english version does have an extra scene where Jason goes around the tourist spots of Seatlle with his girlfriend and it explains how she comes into the story properly (whereas the Australian copy dosent). But nonetheless this scene isnt worth seeing (even as a bonus).I saw this for the first time when I was around 13, having never really been exposed to 80s Martial Arts films only teen comedies.I loved it, all the actors are awfull, but seem to try so hard especially Mr.Stillwell & RJ (who is the highlight of this film as the Jason (the main character's) break dancing best friend). This also has plenty of one-liners you'll find yourself repeating over and over again just for the way the actors deliver them. I wonder what has happened to JW Fails and the rest of the cast who it appears have not followed their acting careers out of the 80s. While Jean Claude Van Damme, Kurt McKinney & to some extent Timothy D.Baker have had some success the others have faded into obscurity.
