The movie takes place in an unspecified, vaguely medieval kingdom. The premise is straightforward. The king has arranged to marry off his daughter for political/dynastic reasons, but the princess is unwilling.
Then the fun begins.
It's one long escape/fight/rescue scene, with occasional flashbacks.
The Princess is no helpless damsel waiting for others to rescue her or her family. If you can't bear to see an action movie without a manly man saving the day and getting the girl in the end, move along. This isn't that.
The film is violent. There's blood, a body count, on-screen fatal wounds, and occasional gruesome deaths.
There's plenty of stuntwork and violations of the laws of physics, but if you're looking for a historical documentary or a physics simulation, this ain't it.

The series isn't to be taken seriously, what with regularly meeting new settlements and civilizations that have little or no awareness of each other, and new isolated spots that are far from everything else, but somehow they're never terribly far from the tree house and it all fits on a plateau in South America. Few of the characters, cultures, or dinosaurs they meet have any connection to South America.

They visit a 14th-century castle and dress in 18th-century style. They play out a period romance - apparently pre-Revolution France, along the lines of Dangerous Liaisons - while also suggesting they're in the 15th century. They mention plague outside the castle. If they're referring to "the" plague - the Black Death - that's from the 14th century. This episode is mostly about the dress-up.
You wonder if this was a money-saving episode. One actress appears briefly at the start, but otherwise only the main cast appears. They probably got the sets and costumes from other shows.

Sarah Alexander, John Hannah, and.Jo Joyner do an especially good job.
Yeah, it's a "gimmick" show in that only Marley can.see her ghost friends and hilarity ensues, but it's cleverly done and the cast is good. It's only nine episodes. The show didn't last long enough to run out of steam.
