There's a change at the top of CBS' rookie legal drama All Rise.
Co-showrunner Sunil Nayar has departed the series starring Simone Missick. In his place, David Makes Man boss Dee Harris-Lawrence has joined the drama and will serve as co-showrunner alongside creator Greg Spottiswood.
Sources say Nayar asked to exit the Warner Bros. TV-produced show about prosecutors, judges and public defenders and the studio released him. It's unclear why Nayar wished to leave All Rise, which was picked up for a full season in October. Nayar's credits include Revenge, Oz, CSI: Miami, Body of Proof and, more recently, CBS' The Red ...

Exclusive: “This is a great reflection on story-telling,” says Lionsgate UK & Europe CEO Zygi Kamasa about Knives Out’s solid UK debut of $3.8M, including two days of previews.
Rian Johnson’s movie, which landed second behind Frozen 2‘s colossal $19M, is Lionsgate’s widest ever UK release on 630 sites, surpassing box office sensation La La Land. Damien Chazelle’s 2017 musical did double the opening of Knives Out in the UK but it was something of an anomaly.
Knives Out, an original crime-comedy IP, has made an impressive $70M global over its first weekend off a budget estimated to be around $40M. Lionsgate financed the film with Mrc.
The starry ensemble, about a detective (Daniel Craig) who investigates the death of a patriarch (Christopher Plummer) to an eccentric family, has had strong reviews in the UK.
“It’s a good, fun alternative for most ages, but especially adults,” explains Kamasa...

Stephen Fry has penned an email with Change.org, reminding people that their voices matter in the upcoming UK election:
Make sure you're registered.
I know, I know, not another election! The thing is, this one is quite important if we want to help our country to move forward.
There was once a time when everyone reading this email wouldn’t have been allowed to vote. Now everyone over the age of 18 is being asked their view – you are literally choosing who runs the country, that’s quite something!
So take a minute now to make sure you’re registered.
I know some of you feel your voice doesn’t matter – that nobody listens if you speak up. But as my friends at Change.org say, it’s the people who rule elections, not politicians. When it comes to voting, your voice is all that matters. Every single vote. That’s what democracy is.

In any crowded awards field, getting seen is the first order of business. Unlike last year, when several box office hits lead the Producers Guild of America’s nominated documentary features, only one breakout landed a nomination: “Apollo 11,”. The Guild’s awards are often a bellwether for the Academy Awards, but last year saw a bit of a wrinkle to that tradition: PGA nominee “Free Solo” utlimately took home the Oscar, while the PGA winner, Morgan Neville’s “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?,” did not even land an Oscar nomination.
The other nominees get a much-needed boost in awareness as documentary Oscar branch voters plow through a tall list of screeners. Among the many docs in circulation this season, the PGA went with another pick from Neon’s growing documentary slate, nominating beekeeper profile “Honeyland,” which is also the Macedonia submission for the International Film Feature Oscar. That film joins two hard-hitting Syrian movies,...
