After watching I Shouldn't be alive for the second time I was then shown something called Fight for survival, which is also a good one for people who are interested in survival stories. So now they show me this one called Alive. It probably got lost because the name was this one word that other films are also named as. I think it should be called something like Against All Odds or I Lived to Tell. It's from 2013 yet I've never heard of it.
There are 13 episodes including the Cypress freeway collapse, the Station nightclub fire, the Avalanche in Italy, and the Thai tsunami. I find them to be very engaging and the show is done well overall with a good amount of actual footage when available and good narration. However there is an inordinate amount of reiteration- I believe it's when the show expects to have a station break, when they come back they spend what seems like 2 minutes rehashing the same scenes and same statements that we just saw in the previous segment.
But if you like survival stories these might be very interesting for you. I found that some of them were things I had not heard of even though they were newsworthy because they affected a large amount of people or a large area. However the Cyprus freeway, which was near my home of San Jose, gave me a new perspective. I had felt the shape which was the significant jolt even down where we were and we had heard about the Cypress and saw the film footage but this is the first time I had heard from survivors and heard about the heroes involved.
