The Trouble with Tessa

Trouble with Tessa is one of those rare shows that sneaks up on you, not with jump scares or cheap thrills, but with a slow, unsettling tension that feels like it's always just beneath the surface. It's not spooky in the traditional sense, but there's an eerie weight to the atmosphere that keeps you locked in, watching closely as even the smallest details begin to matter in big ways.

What really shines is the character development. Tessa is layered, flawed, and deeply human. Watching her evolve episode by episode is one of the most rewarding aspects of the series. Each supporting character feels lived in too, and the relationships are handled with nuance and care. You'll find yourself not only invested in what's happening, but in who it's happening to.

The creators deserve major praise for crafting something that feels fresh, smart, and emotionally grounded. Trouble with Tessa doesn't shout, it whispers, and somehow that's even more powerful.

The show reeled me in from the first episode and I can't wait for the next to drop. It's packed with intrigue, mystery, creepiness and suspense, as well as beautiful cinematography and great acting across the board. Not to mention a couple of mind-blowing plot twists that I did not see coming! I enjoyed each and every performance by this excellent cast. Kudos in particular to Katrin Nugent, who is completely genuine as the titular character, and Maria Wolf, who shows tremendous range as Betsy. I won't give any more away!

Overall, this show is very well done! Great acting by all the actors and the short 22 min episodes make it easy to watch and keep you wanting more. There are lots of twists and turns in every episode and it keeps you guessing.

If your looking for a small time investment that keeps you engaged, this is definitely the show!

The Trouble with Tessa was an absolute ride. When you think you've got the show pinned down, it proves you wrong. It's an homage to 90s TV, and it having weekly releases only added fuel to the guessing game fire that kept me wanting more. From its scenic shots of Lowrey to its gruesome special effects. This show had it all.

We came across this show on a Screambox free weekly trial and had to subscribe so we wouldn't miss the remaining episodes.

What we liked is that it wasn't too gory and filled with suspense. Katrin grew on me more with each episode and Maria Wolf was a real standout. The way she went dark in episode 4 was magnificent.

Hopefully we will more of these two actors in the future.
