Conan O’Brien Takes a Jab At Karla Sofía Gascón’s Controversial Tweets In Oscars 2025 Monologue
Image
Did Conan O’Brien’s Oscars monologue take a jab at Karla Sofía Gascón? (Photo Credit – Instagram)

Conan O’Brien didn’t hold back during his Oscars monologue, taking a playful jab at Karla Sofía Gascón’s past controversies. While discussing the film ‘Anora’ and its record-breaking use of profanity, he quipped that its f-ombs were still fewer than those dropped by Gascon’s publicist.

“Anora’ uses the f-word 479 times,” O’Brien said. “That’s three times more than the record set by the publicist of Karla Sofía Gascón.”

The audience erupted in laughter, and O’Brien, never one to miss a comedic beat, acknowledged Gascón’s presence, cheekily advising her that if she tweeted about the ceremony, she should credit the jokes to Jimmy Kimmel instead.

#Oscars host Conan O’Brien dropped a surprising fact about Best Picture nominee “Anora,” saying the film uses the “f-word 479 times. That’s three...

Image
In the music industry, few relationships have been as pivotal as that between Justin Bieber and his longtime manager, Scooter Braun. The talent manager was lucky enough to discover the singer when he was just 13 years old and guided him from being a YouTube sensation to becoming an international superstar.

Throughout Bieber’s turbulent career, marked by ups and downs, Braun was often seen as the steady hand, helping the young singer navigate fame. Now with news coming out that the 30-year-old was targeted by Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, it looks like the young star thankfully had a shoulder to lean on.

3 Ways ‘The Matrix’ Forever Changed the Craft of Hollywood Filmmaking
Image
No one, including Warner Bros, was prepared for how successful “The Matrix” would be when it hit theaters on March 31, 1999. Only the second film by the Wachowski siblings (their first being the low-budget indie “Bound”), it would go on the be the fourth highest grossing film of the year, and a cultural phenomenon that became part of our lexicon.

The movie’s success would also mark a number of shifts happening in the industry. The diverse approach to casting by the Wachowskis, and their casting directors Mali Finn and Shauna Wolifson, took in building their ensemble helped redefine who could be an American action star, as Hollywood was desperate to move away from its already stale reliance on brawny white males, whose bulging muscles justified their physical prowess. The Wachowskis’ philosophy-inspired script helped usher in an era of narrative gravity and complexity in how studios approached the world-building storytelling of studio IP.

Justin Bieber's Manager Scooter Braun Once Feared That The Pop Star 'Was Going To Die' From A Drug Overdose
This is dark. Justin Bieber's longtime manager and friend, Scooter Braun, took to Van Lathan's The Red Pill podcast on Sept. 12 to reveal that the "Sorry" singer once had a serious substance issue. So much so, that Scooter feared for the pop star's life. "There was a time when I would go to sleep almost every night — when he had the money to fly away from me — and I was worried every night that I was going to lose him," the 37-year-old confessed. "I thought he was going to die. I thought he was going to sleep one night and that he would have so much crap in his system that he would not wake up the next morning." (Photo Credit: Getty Images) Despite Scooter's numerous attempts to pull Justin away from his demons, he failed. Thankfully, the now-24-year-old was able to finally see the light all on his own.

The Red Pill or the Blue Pill? The Matrix Screens Midnights This Weekend at The Tivoli
“Never send a human to do a machine’s job.”

The Matrix plays midnights this weekend (September 15th and 16th) at the Tivoli as part of their Reel Late at the Tivoli Midnight series.

Written and directed by the Wachowski Brothers 9now sisters), The Matrix (1999) was a hug hit – a high-tech, edge-of-your-seat, heart-pounding sci-fi action thriller, that everyone went back to see a second time to understand what the heck was going on! The Matrix talks about a future like no other, so technologically advanced that we don’t know if it’s real or not. Everyone is in the middle of a simulated reality to subdue the human population. A computer hacker, under the name of “Neo”, portrayed by Keanu Reeves, is drawn into this rebellion, and fight off against the machines. I’m a fan of big sci-fi action thrillers that make you pay attention throughout. The Matrix...

Keanu Reeves, Laurence Fishburne, Joe Pantoliano, and Carrie-Anne Moss in Matrix (1999)
Why the Alt-Right's 'Matrix' Embrace Matters for a Reboot
Keanu Reeves, Laurence Fishburne, Joe Pantoliano, and Carrie-Anne Moss in Matrix (1999)
In The Matrix, which is now poised for a reboot, Neo (Keanu Reeves) had to make the now infamous choice between a red pill and a blue pill. Offered to him by a bespectacled Morpheus (Laurence Fishburne), the pills are Neo’s to-be-or-not-to-be moment: Taking the blue pill would allow him to regain blissful ignorance under his robot oppressors, whereas the red pill would let him see the reality, however terrifying, of his situation.

He’s the hero. He takes the red pill.

For those unfamiliar with the less-than-savory side of the internet, The Red Pill is also the name of...

Warner Bros. Takes The Red Pill, Reboots ‘The Matrix’
“The Matrix” franchise has been through a lot. It saw a major studio take a chance on two rising filmmakers — Lana Wachowski and Lilly Wachowski — to make an ambitious sci-fi movie, and they were rewarded with a global box office phenomenon. Two bloated, pretty terrible sequels followed, “The Matrix Reloaded” and “The Matrix Revolutions,” not to mention an anime-inspired anthology, “The Animatrix,” which kept the brand going, along with video games too, but these followups didn’t have the same innovation as the first film.

The Red Pill: Melbourne cinema drops men's rights film after feminist backlash
Documentary criticised as unbalanced and cinema cancels screening worried it could be ‘potentially damaging to our credibility’

A Melbourne cinema has cancelled a screening of a documentary on men’s rights activism for fear it could be “potentially damaging to our credibility” following online uproar.

The Red Pill, a documentary by film-maker Cassie Jaye, was due to screen at Palace Cinema’s Kino cinema on Sunday 6 November, at an event organised by Men’s Rights Melbourne. The film professes to take a “balanced approach” to the men’s rights movement, documenting Jaye’s “life-altering journey where she would never see the world the same way again”. But it has faced backlash from members of the feminist community and has been criticised as unbalanced and in favour of men’s rights groups.
