After watching the first episode I'm so angry I can't even think straight!
350 years of "the land of the free" babbling about truth and justice, and it's still "let's screw the foreign guy". They probably see it as some kind of a achievement that he wasn't a brown foreign guy this time.
The entire incident was on video, taken by the "victims" who started filming before they started screaming abuse at the overweight, middle aged man. So we see him minding his own business, trying to ignore the repulsive accusations of the young men who were apparently thinking about having sex with little girls. We see him walk away and the lads follow, still filming. We see the trailer trash Karen come over, see that its all being filmed and start screaming in the poor man's face, and hit and push him. We see the pack close in. We see him pull out a tiny little pocket knife, and do nothing with it. We see the pack leader punch him in the face and knock him down in the river. We see him push the man back when he tries to stand up. We see another one of them try to push him face down in the water. We see the pack's prey finally fight back. We see the pack so unbothered that they just keep coming for him. ALL BEING FILMED BY A "VICTIM". We see him arrested for Intentional Murder.
Wtaf?!!! In what psychotic, vindictive, cretinous reality is that even a thought in anyone's head?
Even if you haven't seen the video (which they had) you have 13 people saying 1 50ish fat man attacked them. If someone has the mental capacity to walk, talk, and dress themselves, they can see that 1 man cannot possible attack 13 people, from 2 entirely separate groups, in a river. Without them converging on him, how did he reach? Since 13 fit, young, healthy people did converge on 1 older man, still recovering from heart surgery, how could it be murder? Is he secretly telepathic and drew them all in, so he could try and kill them with a toothpick?
The only other option is that the cops and DA sat down and said "let's screw the foreign guy". And then they televised it, just so everyone knows that if they're at all different, they're better off dying at the hands of the mob than the hands of the United States legal system.

I binged seven episodes and was hooked. However, I was also somewhat aware I was being subjected to straight up propaganda. The show is told 100% from the defensive position. And in most episodes you get manipulated and misleading information from the accused and their attorney. It's only when you see the prosecution evidence that the defense is dealing with that you realize you are quite often being spun and the "angel" on trial is anything but, regardless of their alleged story. In summary, is the show entertaining? Very much so, it will hook you. However, is the show somewhat dishonest and manipulative? Very much so.
You meet the accused first as they are interviewed for the show. Then you hear the crime. The accused attorneys tell us their view of the evidence, showing photos and videos, and sometimes revisiting the scene. The episode ends with whether they are found guilty or innocent.
This show really makes you question our judicial system. We get to see what wasn't allowed in trial.
I am sure these episodes will stir up some supporters like "The Staircase" has for Michael Peterson. Or, the Steven Avery and Brendan Dassey in "Making A Murderer." Just watch it!
This is my 1st review and I am no expert.

I have begun watching this more recently on the "Crime and Investigation" channel (I'm in the UK) and I have been hooked! I love how we meet the accused. We see the defence team and see why they went the route they went with their defence. We also see any CCTV or videos recorded on mobiles of the crime. I won't ruin it but sometimes it is shocking when you find out how the jury found the accused... One I believe genuinely had a great cause for "self defence" from being surrounded. In some cases we see members of the jury even, who tell us WHY they voted the way they did. Or what others (who aren't on here) was for or against the accused. What they believed and didn't.
I hope it's been renewed for a new series!
