I can't actually describe how well this anime scratches my brain. Amazing romance, enough action, and close to no fan service? This anime is for everyone, of every age. Every character is well-written, the characters work so well together, and there might be some cliche parts it's still done very well. I love this anime. I want more immediately.
I know, a 40+ dude probably isn't the target audience for this, but I just can't help it.
I'm sitting here watching every episode with a smile on my face and tears in my eyes looking forward for the rest of the show to release.
I think what gets me is that the communication in this show is just what I'd want the real world to be like, but it never is. The characters actually think about the intentions of others and interpret things charitably. While they are filled with self doubt, they express their love and gratitude in a genuine way and I think everyone who's ever felt like Rintaro or Subaru wished they had someone like Kaoruko in their lives.
Most of all it's just so nice to see an anime where you don't spend five seasons of people not talking to each other and instead just assume everything all the time.
It's the type of story that's made for anime, because you get the perfect balance of inner monologue and interaction with others, that would be very hard to pull off in another medium.
Do yourself a favor and check it out, but bring plenty of tissues unless you're made of stone.

It's a good anime following the romance between 2 high school kids with many interesting choices about the characters the episode settings and the story progression. It has a lot of strong moments with E9 even making me cry.
The main issue with the show though is how unrealistic the dialogue and interactions between the characters often feel, especially between the two leads. They're constantly being overly thankful and apologetic, endlessly saying things like "I'm sorry" or "It's all good the way you are / the way things are," with a smile and a close shot of them smiling. It happens so often that it starts to lose meaning becomes annoying, and it really just makes me want to close the show and leave. It's not that the characters are just too shy (I 've worked with many people in my life and from different cultures as well) this just feels unnatural, and it's sad because for me it holds the show back...

Most shows generally have a very clear path for the main characters to follow. Usually in any given show you can think ahead to how that chunk of story will likely go.
This show manages to thread the needle of not going too slow on character development while still making it feel normal and human the length of time needed to make certain decisions.
You get guys and girls becoming better friends separately and together. You also get true character growth with noticeable changes to the characters' thought processes and actions in the following episodes. But most importantly, you end up with something quite human that I haven't felt or seen in anime in a while. And I've jumped across all sorts of different genres.
This isn't so simple as to say it's a very plain story that you would expect. It involves all aspects of every character's daily life. It's got love, friendship, and a very genuine feel without a lot of the standard tropes.

My heart can't take this level of pure, wholesome romance. The pacing is slow but intentional, every glance and silence hits deeper than most dramatic love confessions. The visuals are soft and soothing, matching the warm emotional beats. The chemistry between the characters is beautifully subtle yet powerful. I smiled, I blushed, I melted. If you want an anime that heals your soul and makes you believe in quiet love again, this is it. This story deserves a full anime adaptation - it's too beautiful to stay just on paper. The characters feel real, the emotions are honest, and every moment leaves a lasting impression.

"The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity" (2025) is a super cozy romantic comedy anime that'll warm your heart, make you smile, and maybe even tug at your heartstrings.
If this show sticks closely to the manga, it's got serious potential to be one of the best rom-com anime out there.
The opening and ending songs are pretty catchy-give them a few more watches, and they'll probably grow on you and can even become your favourite.
The animation and art style? Straight-up gorgeous! It's some of the best I've seen in the rom-com genre, with stunning visuals that pop off the screen.
Characters like Rintaro and Waguri are total standouts-you'll love them instantly. I haven't read the full manga, but I'm betting the side characters will get solid development too, as long as the adaptation stays faithful and perfect.
The show's super heartwarming and wholesome, with clean, laugh-out-loud comedy that hits just right.
If the show successfully adapts the manga perfectly, that this anime will be 10/10.
Overall , if you're craving a top-tier rom-com anime, this one's a must-watch. It's already shaping up to be a gem !

Out of this world Anime. Wholesomeness, kindness, cuteness. A medicine for a hurtful soul out there. To know that a beautiful thing still exists in this world, and keep your heart purely, waiting for it to come. I would love to rewatch this after the show is entirely out. A pure gem in slice-of-life anime.

As a manga reader who watched the anime before, I must say I was already familiar with the work and therefore the events. I have to admit I didn't have much faith in Cloverworks because of things like what they did with Horimiya and its pacing, but I was surprised by this.
I was pleasantly surprised, as they managed to raise the quality, and although, generally speaking, it's not at the level of the manga, there are some scenes that surpassed it, and they knew where and when to elevate the quality to convey the story effectively.
Regarding the story, characters, plot, narrative, etc., having already read the work, it touched my heart very warmly when I needed it most. I was amazed at how real the characters felt to me without being exaggerated, each receiving their respective development and role (even more so in what follows the anime in the manga). They interact naturally with each other, and their maturity and respect in acting and facing problems are undeniable (a double-edged narrative element, in my opinion).
The story isn't the most original or complex, despite being somewhat so; it manages to reach the viewer in a simple and empathetic way and connect with them. The pacing doesn't feel too long or too short; each event unfolds naturally and precedes the next without losing the narrative flow or the progression of events. They've shortened some moments from the manga, including one important scene in my opinion, but it doesn't ruin the overall development of the story.
To sum it all up, in my opinion, this is one of the best ongoing romances, and one of the best of the last five years at least. It has everything to some extent. However, there are several aspects that could be improved, but overall, I think it's a well-crafted work with well-rounded characters, and it's enjoyable for most romance anime enjoyers.

I have watched over 15 romance anime, and this one is nothing special. While, yes, it does have great animation in many ways, it falls short almost everywhere else. Firstly, the characters lack any significant depth while simultaneously being relatively inconsistent in their attitudes. Secondly, as a romance, it lacks many of the elements that make such anime exciting and unique, with the two main characters' dynamic being both awkward and cringy. And last, but definitely not least, it has to be the female lead-whatever her name is-who, after 10 episodes, is still insufferable and constantly frustrating when it comes to developing the romantic aspects.
However, it is still an okay show and probably worth watching, considering its short length-just don't expect a masterpiece.
P. S. The dub isn't great.

A love story between an intimidating-looking introvert and a cheerful girl, going to schools that despise each other. They are judged when seen together.
Main character Rintaro Tsumugi gets A+ character development. From being an NPC in his own life, not caring about tests, just go school then home and repeat. Now he puts in effort after meeting Kaoruko Waguri, which sparks passion and desire to enjoy life.
Funny interactions, likeable side characters, my favorite Rintaro's passionate mother, Kyoko. There is just something magical about this anime's simple plot. Go watch this now.

This is truly something. Instead of boring plot, unnecessary fan service and stupid things happening we see an amazing slow burn story. The pacing, the fluidity is great. Also the production was top notch. The characters are well written and very likeable. My favourite is Usami ofc (dude is literally me lol😂) The osts were also note mentioning. But what I loved the most is that instead of blue bolling us with stupid writing they went straight to the point. The Ending was amazing. Absolutely loved it. Cannot wait for for. I might just check the manga who knows. Anyways it was such pleasant experience. Fragrant Flowers gets a 8.8/10
/10 from me.
/10 from me.
The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity is shaping up to be one of the most emotionally authentic and visually soothing romances of Summer 2025. With nuanced character work-especially from Rintaro Tsumugi and Kaoruko Waguri paired with CloverWorks' refined animation style and thoughtful score, it's already earning praise as a highlight of the season.

Really good first episode, very nice animation, nice opening and outro, good voice actors, beautiful atmosphere, and very nice art style. It's a bit sad what Netflix has done, but hopefully this series will still be successful. Hopefully, through this animation, more people will hear about this great work and consume it. Very good main characters and the bakery thing works very well. The manga is also very good. One of the best romantic mangas, and hopefully, animes as well. I recommend the series to anyone who likes romantic series. Please watch this series and. Very great characters I recommend it to anyone who likes to see romantic.

I had planned to watch this anime for quite a while. From the very first time I saw it, it really attracted my attention. Seeing the main characters on the poster, I immediately told myself that this title would be great - and actually, I wasn't wrong. However, it turned out that I expected a bit too much. That's my big problem - I usually overestimate an anime before watching it, and then it doesn't match my first impressions, which slightly ruins the vibe for me.
The art style came out really nice. The main character, Rintaro Tsumugi, was done very well - I really liked all his traits. The heroine, Kauroko Waguri, was also quite cute. There's not much more to describe - the side characters were also good, especially Rintaro's parents, who deserve some attention.
Overall, the anime turned out quite sweet. I had too high expectations before watching it, but in general, it was enjoyable. And of course, I'll be waiting for the second season.

First of all, english is not my first language. So sorry if anything idiom-related is wrong.
Now, i'm not disagreeing just for the sake or trend, it's because the anime is not that great and the mayority of the reviews are picturing the show like a masterpiece, and it's not.
I don't understand why some negative comments are blaming Kaoruko for his negative review of the show, when that is not the matter here, because Kaoruko is a walking cliche (being a saint) and only that, his sin is being boring, not irritating like some comments are trying to picture.
The matter here is the oblivious, boring and inconsistent character of Rintaro, he has a solid family structure, with both parents and a brother and yet he doesn't know what he feels, like love. And he doesn't know things like what is being in a relationship, seriously?
I think the only thing that is good about him is the dynamics with his friends at the beginning of the anime, but that was ruined too when Rintaro became the center of everything and his friends doesnt think of anything else that is not Rintaro.
And not only that, the story is also boring, dont get me wrong; i don't need to have drama every episode, but the conflict in the show is non-existent, every disagreeing the characters have is so exaggerated (im looking at you, Subaru) and is solved by making a parade of apologies, which is boring and disappointing for saying the least (not mentioning a big component of the main plot -hate between schools- get's lost in about 5 episodes, and even in that time it wasn't mentioned a lot).
The conflict that is a little different is the "tense" relationship Rintaro has with his friends at the beggining, which is solved in the most corny way i've ever seen in any romantic comedy ever (the fight scene, in which one friend of Rintaro beats all of the bullies by himself).
Talking about that, the mayority of self-called "romantic comedies" are not funny, but this show is the least funny of all (google says it's a romantic comedy, not a romantic show only).
Positive aspects of the show, first, the animation is really beautiful, and I think that is that same animation which brings all the positive reviews.
Second, the caracters are not interesting, but they are not bad, either (except Rintaro).
I think the show deserves something around 6 or 7 (laugh track) but I will choose 6 for the reason I was so disappointed by this show because my friends recommended it a lot.
If you don't have nothing to do, it's a good anime to pass the time, but nothing else.

It's a school romance anime, but not a shallow one. It discusses relationships from a psychological perspective, delving deeply into the characters. Love here has reasons; it's not just something that appears out of nowhere.
In the end, it shows that people may not always agree, and that's okay. Still, the anime doesn't leave anything up to interpretation - it always explains the characters' motives and feelings after presenting them, from a follower's perspective.
The anime feels fresh and different, though there have been other romance anime that achieved a similar balance before, but not many.
Overall, it's not your typical romance anime - rather, it's nice and cosy.
Final Rating: 8.5/10"
