When it came time for the Milwaukee Bucks to install a new floor, the board did something rather controversial and paid New York City artist Robert Indiana over $27,000 to paint it. The result would become known as The MECCA and it would give the team an incredible home field advantage due to its look and layout. When it came time for the Bucks to get a new floor, the old one ended up in a storage unit where a local man made it his mission to rescue it. MECCA: THE FLOOR THAT MADE MILWAUKEE is another very entertaining entry in the series as we get a pretty detailed look at the original controversy surrounding the floor and how things started to change once people actually saw it and its impact on the city. We get interviews with some of the players who played on the floor as well as the man who purchased it. Fans of the MECCA will certainly enjoy seeing this documentary.

I remember the first time I saw the court for the University of Oregon. With the tree lines and such, it was unique and incredible. One would have to figure this was inspired by risk takers like the Milwaukee Bucks. Every now and then, you see something rather different but in sports, uniqueness is bad. Just look at the NCAA tournament. I wish schools and pro teams were allowed to do more of this type of stuff, for it really does make the game more interesting to experience.
