This is a Hallmark movie about American pilgrims on the "Way of St James", a route that starts in northern Spain and ends at the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in northwestern Spain. It's an ancient pilgrimage, but still a religious exercise.
The script is really bad because it's soaked in nostalgia for past relatives and past times. There is too much living in the past, which makes it both depressing and boring. The dialog is repetitious and it's slow, which also makes it boring. It could have been a much lighter movie about a man and woman who both live in the Boston area, but met thousands of miles from home. And how they both enjoyed the culture of Spain and the province of Galicia. They got to Santiago de Compostela and stood looking at the cathedral, the cathedral is the end of the pilgrimage, but they never went inside.
A really bad script, another dud from Hallmark.

I love this. I love that it had a spiritual storyline. Because the truth is, all of our lives have a spiritual story whether we realize it or not. And I love how this movie brought it to the forefront. There was Grace, family conflict, imperfect people, etc. I loved how the main female is doing a devotional. I love that she prays.
Also, I love that they didn't do heavy makeup on the females. Given that they're doing this outdoor walk, they wouldn't have heavy makeup on and so it was nice that they actually looked realistic in that way.
Also, I really loved the Camino guide character. She was a gem.

I just loved this movie! Refreshingly different from the usual Hallmark formula. Five (including the tour guide) people discovering themselves on the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage hike. It was very "real" as they stayed in a hostel, wore the same clothes several days, carried just essentials in their backpacks, and the lead actress wore minimal makeup, making it all feel like an authentic experience. All the characters were interesting, and the family dynamics between grandfather, father and son was vey relatable. I look forward to watching this movie again! Thank you Hallmark for movies like this!
OMG and not in a good way. Started out slow but when it turned into a spiritual journey walking beside God when had to quit watching the movie. Too bad most of the visible reviews are glowing with an average of almost seven we thought we hit the Hallmark jackpot. But like every lottery ticket you pay more than you win. Now for the required characters gibberish about the movie you get to see the movie and the movie you can see the movie you want in your head but not your face or your eyes are on your nose or your face and there we go with the movie review requirements that are just a waste of time!
Yes, there is a different feel to this movie if you're used to watching hallmark. It's more thoughtful, and thankfully, as mentioned by another reviewer, does not use the typical tropes.
It's more thoughtful - sweet, kind, and yet realistic in its portrayal of the main characters. I for one appreciate the faith aspect which I do not think was overdone. The experience of the Trail is a religious one and it's refreshing that the characters were allowed to actually pray. Beautiful.
There were times when the dialogue was a little mundane and some of the acting wasn't quite as sharp as we might want, but overall it was a refreshing and enjoyable experience. I'd definitely watch it again. The best performance by far was by Solal Bellaiche, the son. The pace was in line with the theme and purpose( walking the Camino trail) of the movie. I've said before that we need to be in the right headspace to watch a lot of movies and this is one of them. Slow down and enjoy the beauty of this one.
