War Path

No one should miss this film. I agree with other reviewers here, it's an easy 10. Sets out to accomplish a valuable goal, and does so very convincingly, very gracefully.

Each character is very interesting and well acted. As in any significant narrative, the characters actually develop before your eyes, and change.

The setting, the landscape is very beautiful. Excellent music suiting the region. Nice, subtle touches of humor despite the grimness of what transpires.

Hope this one becomes more well-known, by word of mouth.

I'm not normally the type to watch indie films, especially with the varying quality that can come with it. However, I saw War Path on the advice of a friend and greatly enjoyed it!

Plot-wise, it won't change the world but it fits comfortably in the Hitman-gets-revenge genre and has a labyrinth story that mostly answers the questions it puts forth, even if it can get a bit convulated at times. The story goes in and out of time, so it keeps your interest and juts forward head first.

Acting-wise, the cast is pretty strong, anchored by Gary Nohealii as Joel, the lead. He's great in the role, holding my sympathy even when he's doing cruddy things and the rest of the cast fills their spots well.

The movie has a lot of fun action, moves briskly, and packs a lot into a brief runtime. Highly recommended!

I read that the plot of War Path started as an entry in a music video. It should have ended there. I can't decide if the script or the acting was worse. A free-lance hitman wants revenge after his employer threatens, then kidnaps his wife. At least I think that was the plot.

Obviously, the budget was extremely low as basic cinematography standards were ignored. Things like lighting, consistent audio or even using a decent cinema camera was evidently too much for the crew. So many of the scenes were definitely not color graded. I didn't know if that was supposed to be the director's "technique," or they just forgot to white-balance the camera. You can always tell a low budget movie as they just love, love, love unnecessary close-ups. And so many shaky handheld shots.

I've watched enough "hidden gems" in the indie film genre to know that this isn't one of them.

For those who did not watch Chinese action movies with lots of martial art and fun history, this is a superb movie! Excellent acting with fun elements and great costumes, epic music and all. Enjoy!!

I'm not used to chinese movies. I saw this and thought should give it a try. At first the plot seems basic, unaware of the rpg background of the movie. Even though it has a few plot wholes or inconsistencies, it is full of surprises. The CGI and the fighting scenes do make up for it.

This movie doesn't waste much time with overly complex story, dialogue or character building. It's an action movie with a fair share of Martial Arts.

The sci fic and special effect did impress me. Chinese movie can be up to holloywood level really didn't expect. I get used to bored by this revenge and historical theme, but this one did it differently.

Watched the film twice, cg and visual effects are fantastic. Two main lead actors do have harmony throughout the movie. You will certainly laugh and cry. Friendship bond will sometimes be equal to a family bond! Kudos to the whole team!

Great movie. Cinematography is wonderfully made. I love the film and it was worth to watch! Congrats to the whole team,job well done.

The content is so artistic!

Amazing directing, acting, and visuals were all superb! There is also probable and colorful CG. Please check it out! Recommended! I love this director's films, but this one was the best!
