Stumbling upon the 2025 comedy "Airplane 2025" by random chance, I opted to watch it on account of it being a movie that I had neither heard about nor seen before.
With the most prominent of cast names being Tom Arnold, I have to say that I wasn't exactly harboring the biggest of expectations. And once the movie started and I saw The Asylum was behind this movie, I thick my expectations dropped down another notch.
Writers Ryan Ebert and Scotty Mullen put together a script and storyline that would definitely appeal to an adolescent male audience. I must admit, however, that I was expecting a tad more comedy and less lewd scenes. Not that I am a prude, but I just have outgrown this kind of entertainment many, many years ago.
Aside from Tom Arnold, I was only familiar with actress Tania Fox. The acting performances, when they were acting and not performing lewd scenes, were fair enough.
This is definitely not a movie that I will return to watch a second time. It was a struggle to get through it the first time around.
My rating of director Adrian Avila's 2025 movie "Airplane 2025" lands on a generous three out of ten stars.

"Airplane 2025," has no business being as good as it is, yet it's a blast from start to finish. It's deserving of cult classic status. Its success rests on the ample shoulders of a dynamic cast which is packed with scene stealers, who rub against each other to cause each to shine. They all clicked and feel like genuine friends hanging out having a good time reveling in the sexy, funny ridiculousness which they find themselves in. I imagine the set was chaotic, frenetic, and fun, which is part of the studio Asylum's special sauce to making their "so bad it's good," brand of "Sharknado" type fair, except in this instance this movie is simply genuinely great. Their chemistry and fun is felt on screen.
Anchoring it all is leading lady Tania Fox "Sharkside of the Moon," "Blade the Iron Cross", who while playing what amounts to "the straight character" which her more zany friends contrast with, matches their hilarity with her airy and silly and slightly over the top take on the character of Gloria, a pure and virginal beauty forced to wed in order to help her Senator father, played, by Tom Arnold, who, gives a great comedic performance as a gruff and tough but ultimately sweet dotting and protective father. Gloria's posse of gal pals are determined to give her a wild "mile high" bachelorette party on the flight, before her forced arranged marriage. Gloria's handsome inventor ex, the future "father of the smartphone" sneaks on the plane disguised as a pilot in order to try and win Gloria back. The plane malfunctions, the main pilot Jesus, the J is silent, is seduced by a nun in training who gives everyone drugs and flashes, the senator cuffs himself to the young handsome inventor as part of a citizen's arrest, an ego-maniac rock star gives a sassy biker chick "the best sex of her life" (which we get to partially experience in a wild ruckus of hilarious scene), a raunchy bachelorette party games goes out of hand, and other end of life epiphanies are realized and acted on for starters in a orchestra of zaniness. And yet the sweet and satisfying heartfelt ending is earned.
In these chaotic and distressing times, it's nice to be distracted and escape to a throwback of the early classic "sex comedy" movies (this one is more similar to "The American Pie" movies than "Airplane" although both are obvious and effective inspirations). "Airplane 2025" just may become a classic in its own right. I highly recommend it (unless boobs offend you). This movie deserves a sequel, to give these dynamic actors, especially Tania Fox, a canvas to flaunt their talents.

There's little to no humor anywhere.
Very little, if any, character development and a script which appears to be more about reasons to provide an innuendo or nudity than anything else.
There's an ABUNDANCE of "soft-core-like" looping music backgrounds. Music on a loop, the more it repeats the more annoying it becomes. Seriously, the music is ever-present and never stops. It merely moves from one looping piece to another looping piece.
Rather moronic "video game-esk" sounds - "Boink" "bing" "boom" "twinkle" - all of which make no sense to include.
A lengthy female topless scene at the beginning to perhaps make viewers stick with this longer than they would otherwise. And several other female topless scenes throughout.
There's no real "story" overall. This is more a "collection of scenes" with the thinnest of strings to connect them. (Like a soft-core adult film)
This.. has more in common with 1980s-era late night cable "skinemax" pay channel than it does with the 1980s Airplane films.

I'm assuming Asylum Films are releasing this 'reboot' of Airplane now because of the forthcoming big budget Naked Gun remake.
We all know that Asylum make low budget mockbusters and over the years have released a plethora of disaster, monster, horror and comedy rip-offs, most of which aren't very good. The Sharknado franchise has probably been their most successful.
Airplane 2025 is set in the 1970's and I was hoping, even with a low budget, that they could produce a mildly entertaining scatterbrain comedy. Unfortunately, this has none of the audio or visual humour of the original films, the script is poor and the acting isn't brilliant. Tom Arnold is the most well known name here and he pretty much sleepwalks his way through his lines.
What you will get is nothing more than a very soft core porn film, with several of the actresses spending most of the runtime topless, simulating sex and smoking weed with stupid sound effects and very annoying and constant music.
It's a shame that they didn't even try to make a comedy that had its heart in the right place. This has been released purely as slop with Asylum knowing that people will see the Airplane title and watch it out of curiosity.

I saw there was a new Naked Gun movie coming out so I re-watched the originals.
I also saw a new Airplane movie was coming out too so I also re-watched the original Airplane movies.
Then I noticed Asylum had made the new movie. But thought they should be able to make a decent silly comedy...after all the made the Sharknado movies...however, this was more like a soft core porn movie without the porn.
Having said that if you like boobs there are plenty of those in it and Tania Fox's are especially nice. :D.
So just to be clear and to get the minimum characters in this review, this movie is not a patch on the original Airplane movies and should be renamed.
