Killer Rack (2015)

Killer Rack

Not bags of fun.

Suffering from low self-esteem due to her less-than-ample bosom, Betty (Jessica Zwolak) visits a plastic surgeon, Dr. Thulu (Debbie Rochon), unaware that the crazy quack is an acolyte of the elder gods, and intends to implant the spawn of one of the old ones into her latest patient's breasts. Post-operation, Betty is ecstatic about her augmented boobs, which give her the boost in confidence she needed; unfortunately, her new knockers also cause her to have blackouts, during which her possessed chest goes on the rampage, devouring human flesh.

I know someone who was an extra in Killer Rack; 'twas the main reason I watched it. I'm not going to lie... spotting her was the most entertaining thing about the film. Although the premise sounds loopy enough to ensure plenty of laughs, and everyone involved is clearly giving their all, the script is severely lacking. Horror comedy is notoriously difficult to get right, and on this occasion the scares aren't there and the gags fall flatter than Betty's chest (pre-surgery).

Troma head-honcho Lloyd Kaufman has a role in this film, which gives an idea of the level of sophistication at play: the humour is very low-brow and painfully obvious, while the extremely broad performances wouldn't seem out of place in a school pantomime (two of the worst characters are extremely low-rent knock-offs of Jay and Silent Bob). The practical special effects have a certain charm to them - cheap and cheerful puppetry with some juicy gore - but there's also some seriously dodgy CGI to contend with.

While breast obsessed schoolboys might think that this film is the tits, I imagine most viewers will feel like a right tit for having wasted their time.

3/10.

N. B. Fans of indie horror cinema might recognise Roy Frumkes, director of body-melt classic Street Trash, as a businessman. Also of interest: B-movie director Brett Piper, who gave us the equally lamentable A Nymphoid Barbarian in Dinosaur Hell, is credited as stop motion supervisor.

Killer Rack is a quirky horror-comedy that's only worth watching if you're intentionally seeking out something campy and absurd.

I recently watched Killer Rack (2015), a horror-comedy currently available on Tubi. The storyline follows a woman stuck in a dead-end job, unable to advance due to her lack of "sexually appealing" attributes. She decides to take matters into her own hands and gets breast implants-unaware that the implants are man-eating.

The film is directed by Gregory Lamberson (Slime City) and stars Jessica Zwolak (Madhouse), Lloyd Kaufman (The Final Countdown), Debbie Rochon (Exhumed), and Brooke Lewis Bellas (Sinatra Club).

Killer Rack succeeds by fully embracing its ridiculous premise, leading to a humorous and over-the-top buildup. Lloyd Kaufman is always entertaining, and the absurd concept keeps your attention. The film features fun background music, plenty of blood splatter, and some creative practical effects. However, most of the kills are cutaways or involve flying appendages, which can feel underwhelming. Unfortunately, the ending takes a nosedive with bad CGI, wild "breast monsters," and a bizarre resolution.

In conclusion, Killer Rack is a quirky horror-comedy that's only worth watching if you're intentionally seeking out something campy and absurd. I'd give it a 3/10.

Meh, low budget horror comedy

I think you were supposed to laugh at this movie? It's listed as a horror comedy, but it tries too hard to be campy, witty and funny. Unfortunately it fails on all 3.

Snooze Fest

This movie was boring and not funny at all. The premise is super off the wall and wacky but the comedy fails to deliver. Bad acting and writing and this is just a mess without even being funny as promised.

Killer Rack

Betty is tired of being overlooked by everyone because she does not have a large chest. The two perverted metalheads that stand on her apartment corner and make catcalls at all the women never notice her. Betty seems to notice the gals at work who are more endowed always seem to be the ones who get promoted. Even her boyfriend doesn't seem too interested in her.

Betty decides to go see Dr. Thulu for a consultation and walks out a new woman. The only thing is that Barbara's new chest has an appetite for human flesh. Can Betty control her new "friends" or will they be her undoing? Check out Killer Rack to find out.

So bad..so good

If you like bad movies...this is the one for you. So many tongue in cheek jokes. The person that captioned this movie deserves an Oscar for captions like "breasts chewing ominously over organ music".

Funny, Comedy at its peak, hysterical

A brilliant comedy movie. Hysterically funny, and well worth watching. I was not sold on the movie, the trailers looked trash, the story seemed beyond redemption, the movie seemed doomed to failure, hyped to disappoint. I was wrong.

This movie is an original comedy classic which is going to have a cult following in no time. If you have not seen this movie, there is something wrong with you. I loved everything in the movie.

Learning that something that looked so natural was CGI and finding out that the others were not CGI but controlled by puppeteers, and I'm sure you'll have a problem working out which is which, and in all honesty, you have to go and give this movie a try. Relax, let yourself go and lose yourself in some comedy gold right out of Buffalo, NY.

A Very Fun Movie

I give my reviews compared to my expectations of the films going in. This is a low-budget film, nobody was expecting a Scorsese masterpiece. To rate the myriad B-movies on Tubi on the same scale as movies with much better budget, staff, talent, equipment, connections, and time would be absurd.

Killer Rack was quite funny. You'd think, based on the title and premise, that the movie would be quite exploitive; but it's not. There's one brief scene in a hottub where actual breasts are seen for a few seconds. The title characters are clearly prosthetic, and don't appear much. If not for the blood and gore, this might get a PG-13 rating.

Jessica Zwolak played Betty Downer quite well, and Debbie Rochon as Dr Cate Thulu was absolutely hysterical. The lesser characters gave the same low performance quality as one expects from nearly every actor in the genre, which is part of the appeal.

The songs were funny too. While the director, writer, and musicians are male, you can tell there was significant female influence in the process.

A movie about a boobjob may sound like it'd be aimed at a male audience, but women will possibly find this more amusing.

If you're bored on a Saturday afternoon, have 90 minutes to spare, and enjoy low-quality movies, I'd definitely say it's worth watching.
