Martin Ballantyne came up with the concept on the last day of shooting the first film, and pitched the idea to director Kris Smith. Originally the sequel was intended to be a continuous storyline about Jon and his new family Sarah and Alex, along with Chris' story on the side. But Smith declined the idea and said that he'll only direct the sequel if it was a spin-off and is focused on the friend from now on, as Jon's story has come to an end, yet Chris' has only just begun.

Kris Smith stated that he taught Carley Watts (Ellie) and Suzanne Chamberlain (stripper) how to lap dance and pole-dance. He then claims it's the weirdest directing experience that he's ever done.

During the convention fight scene, Aaron Sharp had his eyebrow cut by one of the fighting extras in rehearsal. Later in the scene the character all of a sudden has stitches on the eyebrow.
