Typically I look at student films differently than studio backed features (and shorts) but there's no need when there aren't present flaws in the project. Chookas establishes everything you need to know about the film in the first minute and it just continues to be enchanting until the screen turns black. I adored the ending. So it goes without saying the writing and directing is exceptional. Every actor's performance is worthy of sticking in it's entirety in their showreels. Even the extras, including one particular honorable civil servant, all do a great job. Other aspects like the music, cinematography and lighting plus the editing are all subtlely fantastic, as they're precise but not intrusive.
If you needed evidence that ECU's WASA deserves the same respect WAAPA has internationally, here it is.
Congratulations & well done to all who worked on this project. A film company with all of you onboard would cause accusations at award shows that you were either buying or related to the judges with all the sweeps you'd be getting. I look forward to whatever comes next, because I'm certain I'll enjoy it.
