At the Annecy Animation Festival today, Fortiche, the acclaimed French animation house behind the hit series “Arcane,” announced it is diving into original IP with the upcoming miniseries “Miss Saturne, a 10×10-minute animated project currently developed in collaboration with Arte France and Les Storygraphes.
“Miss Saturne” was previously pitched as a feature and appeared at Cartoon Movie in 2017, but has been retooled as ten, 10-minute episode project to better align with younger viewing habits and digital platforms. How closely the new series will adhere to that original pitch hasn’t been made clear, but the companies are describing it as a “generational fiction infused with music.”

France TV Distribution, the sales and co-production arm of public broadcaster France Televisions Group, is launching international distribution on Season 2 of comedy series “Aspergirl” at the upcoming edition of Mip London, set for February 23-27.
Distributed worldwide by France TV distribution, the country’s biggest TV exporter, “Aspergirl” Season 2 is produced by Paris-based Patafilm, founded by entrepreneur Antonin Ehrenberg, in co-production with Belgium’s Velvet Films.
Filming for Season 2 of “Aspergirl,” structured as an eight chapters, 22-minute each, began in September in Angoulême and will be ready for delivery by the fall.
“Aspergirl” turns on Louison, a single-mother that discovers she has autism spectrum disorder when her son Guilhem is himself diagnosed following an incident at school. The Louison leading role in the series is played by French actress Nicole Ferroni (“Mental”).

Annette Bening’s first major TV series role has won the five-time Oscar nominee the Best Actress prize at this year’s Series Mania.
Bening was awarded in the past few minutes at the prestigious Lille event for her leading role in Peacock series Apples Never Fall, an adaptation of a novel by Big Little Lies scribe Liane Moriarty.
The coveted grand prize was given to French-Hungarian chess drama Rematch about the historic 1997 chess battle between Garry Kasparov and an Ibm computer. It beat off competition from the likes of Apples Never Fall, MGM+’s Hotel Cocaine and Leonard Cohen show So Long, Marianne.
