I bingewatched all six episodes and was hooked from the beginning to end.

North of Copenhagen, where the rich people live a Beverly Hills lifestyle, many of them hire cheap foreign labor - usually young filipino women - to clean their expensive houses and look after their kids.

This is not made up. I worked as a teacher in that fairytaleland for almost 20 years. And I heard many stories, too. For many it's all about keeping up their appearances.

It doesn't take long in the first episode for the whole setup and premise to get going. A young filipino turns out missing and the following episodes are all about "what happened?" and "who's to blame for foul play?"

It's part drama, part mystery. As the story progress it becomes more and more clear that something is completely rotten and off, about certain main characters. This is where it gets really exciting and interesting, because in world where everyone learns to have a facade, lying also becomes easier.

The mini-series is beautifully shot and masterfully edited, and the cautionary tale was an added bonus.

Secrets we keep is probably the best Danish series I've ever watched.

Storyline of 2 very wealthy families exploiting Filipinos through au pair arrangements where the Filipinos work as nannies and housemaids for very little money.

All comes to a scandal that opens up the entire world of the entitled people Like a house of cards, it falls apart bit by bit through a seemingly simple event.

I thought at first it should be more of a movie than a series but I changed my mind as the pace of developing the storyline is more suited for a series.

I was hooked on Secrets We Keep from the very first episode. The acting was strong, the storytelling layered, and the suspense built steadily with each chapter. It promised a payoff that felt just out of reach, keeping me invested through every twist and reveal.

But the final episode was a major letdown.

After so much careful buildup, the finale felt rushed and unsatisfying. Key plotlines were either ignored or wrapped up too neatly. Some characters acted in ways that made no sense based on everything we'd seen before, and others just vanished without resolution. Most frustrating was the lack of real emotional payoff-no reckoning, no clarity, no true closure.

It's as if the writers didn't trust the audience to handle a more honest, consequential ending. Instead, we got ambiguity and loose ends where there should have been resolution and depth.

Still, I can't deny how compelling the series was for most of its run. If you enjoy well-acted psychological drama and slow-burning mystery, it's worth watching. Just be prepared: the ending may leave you disappointed.

I just finished watching Reservatet, and honestly, I thought it was a really good miniseries. Sure, it was a bit predictable in parts, but it still had some twists that caught me off guard, which I appreciated. It kept me interested the whole way through.

I've always thought Denmark does a great job when it comes to film and TV, and this was no exception. There's just something about the way they tell stories that really works. The acting was solid across the board too-everyone brought their A-game and made the characters feel real.

All in all, I'd say Reservatet is definitely worth a watch. Not groundbreaking, but very well done and engaging.

It is different than what I was used from Scandinavians. Usually they are centered around a weird policeman/woman but this narrative focuses more on a civilian involved. You can guess what is gonna happen if are observant enough. Overall I liked the it was a little bit different than what I was used for Nordic noir series but it wasn't something extraordinary. As I said before you can guess who the plot will roll out l. I loved the actress who played Catarina. She plays the policewoman on other shows and it was interesting to see her in an other role! I found the duration ok although they could have had some more character development.

Overall if you like Nordic noirs I find it decent.

Another excellent series from Denmark! For those who criticize it for being racist and predictable, those are precisely some of the series key points. It's meant to be like that.

Rich versus poor.

This is not a series you watch and forget. It sticks with you because it causes you to wonder. It's not about solving the mystery, it's about what lies under the façade of wealthy society. And reveals how easily people can ignore what's wrong until it becomes impossible to look away.

The two main actresses are the ones who carry the story and make it come together.

The casting and the suporting casting are all great!

Overall, I'd have to tell you I didn't think I was going to enjoy this show as much as I did. But it impressed me. It's intelligent, emotional and incredibly psychological.

It demonstrates that justice doesn't come easily when the subjects are rich and powerful. And It is also a reminder that sometimes doing the right thing can hurt, but that it is the right thing to do.

Of course, let's not forget the ongoing theme about social media among minors in this series, which, just like in the series 'Adolescence' , fill you with questions and frustration at the same time.

If you're into tension, psychology and a great message on social commentary, 'Secrets We Keep' is worth watching, no doubt.

This thriller with the unsurprising twist does a great job of examining the relationship between the ladies that lunch and the au pairs that take care of thier children.

Marie Back Hasen is stunning as the centre point of the story showing the cool unemotional danes verus the emotional Filipino babysitters

The scenes of au pairs meeting and talking about thier, "employers" is great as well as how they get pressured into doing things

The use of very tall Danes and very short Filipinos is particularly good in the show dont tell rule of film making

It could have been two episodes shorter but definitely worth binging.

Secrets We Keep unfolds with quiet urgency, tracing the disappearance of a Filipino househelp, in an upscale Copenhagen suburb. What begins as a personal concern gradually exposes a layered critique of privilege, systemic neglect, and the quiet complicity of those who benefit from both.

The girl's absence becomes a lens to examine the asymmetries of care, labour, and belonging in a society that prides itself on fairness, yet falters when accountability challenges comfort.

The storytelling is restrained yet charged, balancing empathy with discomfort. With only six episodes, Secrets We Keep distills its critique with precision, leaving behind not answers, but echoes difficult questions about power, silence, and the hierarchies embedded even in acts of kindness.

This is not a crime thriller. It's a moral reckoning.

Okay, let's be clear about this: the sixth episode isn't great. The plot slows down so much just minutes in that you know the next half hour is designed to lull you into a false sense of security before the closing twist. And the closing twist, when it comes, is a bit am-dram or amateur dramatic. It's a bit too loaded in its thesis that rich people will do anything to hold on to what they have, even those of them who think of themselves as good and morally driven. But, that aside, and usually one cannot put the last episode of six aside, the thing is that the first five episodes here are so well done, so well acted, well shot and directed that it's hard not to go from one directly into the next, carried along on the sheer expert pacing of this tale of familial intrigue and the privileges of wealth.

There's a sense of forward propulsion and indeed sheer style about this show (despite the fact that it seems to borrow its soundtrack and indeed its casting style and preferences from Bad Sisters, despite never reaching the brilliance of that script and dialogue.

But as shows about class difference, about family obligations and rights, about the wealthy West and the often scramblingly desperate East (personified here by a young generation of Filipina babysitters who find themselves marooned in basement bedrooms of wealthy upscale Denmark), this is a well-made, sharp-edged and sympathetic tale that is also (for all of those first five episodes and at least for parts of the sixth) highly entertaining and highly recommended.

The production quality was genuinely impressive - great cinematography, atmosphere, and solid performances. It had all the ingredients for a gripping thriller.

But unfortunately, it became way too obvious who was responsible from the very first shot of him, which killed the suspense early on. Once that reveal felt clear, the story lost momentum and interest.

Overall, it's a well-crafted film, but the predictability weakens the impact.

If you've seen any crime/mystery series you'll recognize the elements right away and predict what characters will be like. Rich, affluent neighbourhood. Class and race division. People with secrets. People hiding things. People knowing more than they let on. Determined investigator.

But end result is not what it could have been. Secrets and lies are predictable. If you pay attention you can deduce what happened fairly quickly. I'll give writers credit in that characters are actually capable of stepping back and reexamining their actions and beliefs as new things come to light.

I wouldn't call watching this a waste of time, but it's not a memorable series either.

The acting and photography are all well done. Excellent production values. The only criticism is that it's pretty obvious about half way through the mini series who did it. Lots of long shots with strange looks in the background that are a little heavy handed at dropping those clues. It felt like it would have been better pacing if they had cut the length of the series down by half, but still good if you like long dramatic dramas. It doesn't have to hit you with a bat over and over to get the point across that society has problems. There has always been wealthy vs poor. There has always been misogyny. The youth are now being raised by the internet. It's very bad and getting worse. 6 hours of it is just a little too long to have to watch of it when you already know who did it.

I'm not sure why they needed 6 episodes when the ending was so obvious from the beginning! I was hoping they would throw me for a loop or give me a twist or something but nope..

It's a decent watch but truthfully fast forwarded through a lot of unnecessary parts, just wanted to get to the end to basically make sure I was right.

You can put it on as a background show: you don't really have to be laser focused to know what's happening. Each episode is around 30 mins long too so you can finish it in just a few hours!

If you're bored and can't find anything else then go for it as it does have some entertaining aspects.

Good performance as always from Danish actors but the story moves too slow and the plot is fairly easy to see already at episode 3.

The police also acts a bit too amateurish to be authentic. At least we didn't have to relish in personal problems on the female policewoman...

So much more to squeeze out of this story with obvious links to phenomenons addressed in "Adolescence". The frustrated housewife, the weird parties with Filipinos and white men at fancy adresses.

I liked the portraits of the businessmen and the power plays (very realistic). The opulent environment was also refreshing (too many series are shot in "white trash" areas)

As Episode 1 of "Secrets We Keep" (2025 release from Denmark; 6 episodes ranging from 33 to 39 min) opens, a woman named Cecilia comes home from work. She lives in an ultra-wealthy area called North Zealand. Her neighbor Katharina comes over to enjoy a glass of wine (or is that "whine"). Next morning, the Filipino au pair of Katharina goes missing. Cecilia and her own Filipino au pair are determined to get to the bottom of what happened to the missing au pair... At this point we are 10 minutes into Episode 1.

Couple of comments: this is somewhat of a strange mini-series. Let's start with the format: 6 episodes of just over half an hour each, which one would normally associate with a comedy series. This isn't a comedy series. We are dealing with the ultra-rich in Denmark, where au pairs are seemingly the norm. One of Cecilia's co-workers asks her "isn't that a bit colonial?", much to Cecilia's consternation. As for the fate of the missing Filipino au pair, the mini-series is of course very plot heavy, so the less said the better. Then there is the Danish police woman leading the investigation. She is black, but speaks perfect Danish, and she encounters resistance wherever she goes. So the mini-series is also socially heavy. Make of it what you want. The first couple of episodes are a slow-burner but then starting with Episode 3 things get cooking. In the end, these 6 episodes fly by in no time.

"Secrets We Keep" started streaming on Netflix a few months ago and I just stumbled on it the other day. I watched all 6 episodes in a single evening. "Secrets We Keep" is currently rated 100% Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, which is outright ridiculous. Nevertheless, if you are in the mood for a foreign mini-series about the mysterious disappearance of an au pair in the world of Danish ultra-wealth, I'd readily suggest you check this out, and draw your own conclusion.

Viewers seemed to really like this Danish miniseries. I thought it was fine but easy to figure out.

The original title, Reservatet, refers to the upper class neighborhood north of Copenhagen, so this concerns wealthy families.

A young Filipino au pair, Ruby, goes missing. Apparently young women from the Philippines contract to work in Denmark as au pairs for two years. As an aside, I just watched Borden about a Danish politician who becomes Prime Minister, and in all of her discussions with her husband about managing the house and two children, this arrangement was never mentioned.

À neighbor of the couple who hired the au pair, Cecile, is sure something has happened to Ruby. Her own au pair, Angel, has heard rumors and investigates. Before Ruby disappeared, she was stressed about something and seems to have been seeking to leave the family and work for someone else.

The police become involved, with a new investigator, Aicha, assigned. But the disappearance of a foreigner is low priority.

This is an old story about the difference in justice for the wealthy as opposed to others, about the cocoon the wealthy place themselves in, and about shaking up the status quo.

Unfortunately the series gives us no resolution or clear answers.

Marie Bach Hansen as the concerned neighbor is very good.

The majority of the cast did a really good job. The scenery, music were also good. The downside was the storyline and the plot. The show has only 6 episodes, so there wasn't room for background stories? This resulted in "random" scenes that didn't really add value. And the tv show felt quite rushed in general. It would have been nice to know more about the lead characters and their story/life, this would make the storyline stronger and the viewer more invested in the story. The plot (last 2 episodes) in my opinion were also quite disappointing. It all felt a little bland: no dept or tension unfortunately.

Actress and actors are very good. The story is very catching. I could watch all series' chapters in a weekend. Personage Cecilie is at the center of the narrative as the guardian of honesty, consciousness and correctness, surrounded by other personages that conflict with Cecilie (by the way all of them stereotypes). The story runs nicely keeping high interest, curiosity and expectation about what will happen next, however at the end real big flop. I was expecting a climax with revelations, emotions and action, however it was nothing like that. Overall I would prefer more trilling in stead socialist ideology display.
