Fun premise that unfortunately feels rushed

I'm a big Dillon fan, and I was excited for this one. It certainly was not disappointing as it had some great moments (especially Tim's crowd work). However, something about the premise was a bit off for me. It's not a traditional special, more so a 90s dystopian talk show hybrid. Incredible idea! Unfortunately for me, the entire thing felt rushed. I think this would have been incredible in long form with multiple episodes to really let things play out. Thanks for dropping the ball on that one Netflix!

Overall, definitely worth a watch. Tim is one of the funniest people on the planet. It's just a shame Netflix didn't commit to this one more.

Tim Dillon deserves a show!

From start to finish I was in tears, I'm a New Zealander and have been listening to Tim Dillon's podcast for the last three years and when I heard he had a show coming to Netflix I was more than excited! Tim absolutely kills the crowd work and has a special talent of making jokes off the top of his dome. The only downside to this special I could say is it was too short, I feel an hour 30 mins would of been great I felt I was just wanting more but apart from that it was an absolute blast from start to finish. Conclusion tim Dillon being Tim Dillon is all you need Netflix, let him have as many specials and shows as he wants to make!

Ugh!

No clue how this is so highly rated. I thought it was going to be some type of comedy show. It's just scripted trash "reality" TV. I thought I was watching Jerry Springer again or something equally stupid and mind numbing. This is billed as a "Comedy, Talk Show". Yeah it is neither a decent talk show or funny in any way shape or form. The subject matter is rediculous and obviously scripted. It has all the usual elements of the 90's trash TV talk shows like Jerry Springer, Ricki Lake and the like. What a waste of 47min of my life. I kept watching hoping it would get better and it never did. What a waste of time.

I was very hyped to see this special, and it paid off.

This man is an absolute comedy god. I have been a fan of Tim for a while now, and was incredibly excited when he announced this show coming out. Once i saw the trailer, I was more hyped for this than i have been for anything in a while. It was an absolute blast, I think Tim is really in his element in this talk show style, and I pray to RFK that he continues making stuff of this nature. The podcast is great, patreon is awesome, I'm going to see him live next month and I'm sure that will be divine, but THIS RIGHT HERE? Absolute GOLD. Please netflix gods, keep this show going! Tim absolutely killed it, hilarious commentary on the state of the union, and I am grateful for him reviving this dead genre of TV. It's very much needed and I think this is brilliant, and could continue to be absolutely amazing if renewed. Keep er comin; Tim!

Before Reality Shows there was Staged Drama

Never heard of Shamu Dillion, not excited after seeing this video. Hand to God, I lasted 8 mins. I was waiting the whole time for Dillion to 'wink' into the camera.

Yep as another reviewer put it, "homage to the 90s tv shows exposing people's dirty little secrets", but lacked authenticity of actual people being themselves..no matter had zany. Again, can we say SCRIPTED!

I could see where this was going before I got into it by the Harris/Walz T-shirt wearer. Enough said. But, I gave it 8 mins.

Scratch this guy from future watch list.

Fake business, now a fake tv show with fake ass participants.

Fake business, fake talk show

This was great, yes or yes?

Tim Dillon is a sharp shooter and this show is deeply nihilistic, yet deeply human at the same time, an homage to the 90s tv shows exposing people's dirty little secrets.

I'm torn between wanting more and being afraid of feeling exceedingly dirty watching it for longer, so I'd say the editing is on point, and we can see as credits roll that they shot much more.

I hope Tim drops some weight so we can enjoy his shenanigans for many decades, his tongue is sharp and he's probably in my top 3 comedians right now.

He does fake business, now a fake tv show.

Life in the big city.

90's Nostalgia

If you're a kid of the 90's and remember staying home sick to watch Jerry Springer, Maury Povich, or Steve Wilkos while your parents were at work, this is the show for you. Reminds you of everything that was good about those shows without the constraints of cable television. This should be a weekly show for all the "sick" kids and filthy pigs. Netflix should do the right thing and give this show a full season! Tim Dillon has the ability to make these wild situations better with his quick wit and sharp tongue. It's everything that is great and dispicable about America rolled into one hilariously raunchy special.

This should be a series

I would kill to watch a new episode of this every week. Tim Dillon is a comedy genius and I think this shows how amazing he is at what he does. Not many comedians would be able to pull something like this off, fully off script, interviewing people, playing off people's prejudices and all the while remaining hysterical.

The bit with the "homeless couple" was absolutely amazing. Come on Netflix give this man more time, money and shows, better than giving Rogan millions :/

Honestly would recommend this to anyone who loves comedy but maybe doesn't want to watch a traditional hour of stand up. 8/10.

This needs a whole season!

I loved these shows in the 90's and this one has it all: drama, shock, laughter and... heart? It has all of the fun of the originals (Jerry Springer, Sally Jesse Raphael, Oprah Winfrey, Rikki Lake) but it isn't quite as mean as they could often be. 'This is Your Country' feels both nostalgic and fresh. I really hope to see more episodes! Lets have a full season next Netflix! I would also love a segment that follows up on all of the guests after some time has passed.

Tim Dillon is a great host! He keeps it all moving and has great timing with his jokes. Tim is able to hit that sweet spot that is just cheesy and corny enough to still be funny.

You have to watch this! Dont hesitate!

Hilarious, I Want More

I'm a big Tim Dillon fan and felt like he's the perfect fit for this type of show. We really need trashy talk shows to make a comeback with Jerry Springer passing away. He had fantastic crowd work and even when he broke character it made the moments even that much more hilarious. The diverse number of issues addressed between each guest was also fantastic. The show didn't have a theme at all so it was pretty cool to jump in between the issues. He also got a great crowd involved which added to the hilarity of the situations. I'm sad this didn't get much advertising and probably won't get another installation but I believe Netflix would miss out by not shooting another one. 4/5 stars.

Unhinged 90's TV

This special was absolutely hysterical! For those who may not know, Tim Dillon is a professional comedian that has a very successful podcast where he gives sarcastic and absurdist takes on politics and pop culture. By taking the skills he has honed on his podcast and fusing them with a genre of television that already skews to the absurd, Dillon has created a monster hit. The structure of the show is set up similar to Maury, with multiple segments of people with various problems hashing them out with their loved ones in front of us. However, in This Is Your Country, the jokes start flying right away. Between the on-stage drama, Dillon's commentary, audience participation, and the hilariously crafted on-screen graphics there's hardly a moment to catch your breath between the laughs. I won't spoil any of the specifics, you'll just have to tune in yourself to experience what your country has become.

Netflix, if you're reading this, let Tim make more of these!
