A good educational movie that touches my heart. Making my Malay soul very proud. Let the world know about our Silat Gayong. Worth to watch
Gayong's movie is 10 times better than Mat Kilau.
There's only one thing that makes me want to go out to the theater early in the morning.
Definitely the standard of Malay drama/film has improved
For example, the appropriate use of props and clothing and almost accurate with its time and looks realistic although there is still room for improvement.
Beautiful cinematography and color grading, neat and smooth transition between scenes or plot, doesn't feel like hopping around or disconnected and sudden.
The most important thing is that during the battle scene the camera won't shake the earthquake. You can see the pieces of moves used like Hong Kong kungfu movies.
The best part is Meor vs Japanese soldiers using Sundang, it's really exciting!
If there's someone who says they want to imitate Ipman, yes there's a bit of Ipman vibe but what's wrong with taking inspiration? It's not a round and round copy.
Just a little reminder, his pacing was a bit slow for the first 15-30 minutes, but hang in there, because it's worth it afterwards.
Where are the pesilat, ngo2 with braai, fashion activists, archery activists and the like?
Go and support it just like you supported Mat Kilau's films in the past.
Please go and watch Gayong's movie, especially if you are from Gayong.

Powerful and culturally rich film that truly showcases the essence of traditional Malay martial arts. The storytelling is compelling, blending heritage, discipline, and emotion in a way that keeps you engaged from start to finish. The choreography of the silat scenes is authentic and beautifully executed, paying homage to the art form while still delivering cinematic excitement.
The cast gives strong performances, especially the lead, who brings intensity and heart to the role. The cinematography captures both the action and the cultural setting with elegance, making it not just a movie but an experience.
This film is a proud representation of Malay identity and tradition. Highly recommended for anyone who appreciates martial arts, cultural films, or just great storytelling.

It is a good film, based on legendary figure in Malaysia, a silat grandmaster. I think it have a lot of potential, but maybe because of a low budget so it looks cheap and "can do better" feel because the director is a well experienced director so how much epic ca he do with a tight budget? If we want to talk about a weakness, sure there is a lot of weakness such as poor cgi and anything but we cant deny how meticulous they want to make the fighting scene to make sure it looks really good and stylish. Anyone expect for this movie to at least looks the same par as Mat Kilau must remember that this movie is about the journey of malaysian silat grandmaster, its totally different theme. With very low budget.
Overall The Action of this movie combine with has Silat. Muay Thai. Karate. And Kung Fu All In One was pretty Mid. But for a little low budget For this movie i think it'll give it a shot. Beto did a well done and along with Other actor such as yayan ruhian. Eric Chen. Plus with International Actor. The Cinematography. Script. Was pretty decent For This Movie. Not too many good to Said. But Compare To Mat Kilau I can said It's Almost The same energy Expect different concept. But for this movie I'll give it a solid 7.5/10 it was pretty Mid-good movie. But they can improve more for upcoming movie.
Outstanding acting by Beto and Nabilah. Bloopers scenes were obvious and visible (ie. Fighting scene in changing room, baby changing size, props). Sections in story line disconnected, fragmented and could have been ironed out better. Also cause and reactions disconnect, unnatural & questionable outcome. Message is positive and commended, ie. Honor, integrity, togetherness, adab etc., but scripted in the manner of desperately pushing it a bit too far, leaving cringing feeling; almost like having too much MSG in a meal (can be nice if just enough, but when too much it leaves a bad taste). Too much pre built-up on certain supposedly significant characters or item (sword) failed to be developed properly (wasted airtime).
