L'éclipse

This is one of the best rural mystery series I've seen in ages.

If you loved Broadchurch, you will probably enjoy this. The rural setting is charming, but 'real'. More than just a destination backdrop, the village of Bozouls as imagined here is a community with its difficult characters and flawed policemen (mostly women, in this case). All the characters and families feel believable and while there are a few continuity issues toward the end, I loved that so much of the script was devoted to characterisation rather than the suspense, pyrotechnics, and chase scenes that seem to be the norm at the moment.

We need more of this.
