This movie was supposed to be a comedy, yet I didn't laugh once.
Good parts- Story was nice and wholesome.
Good visuals and cinematography.
Sara Matos and a few other actors (old men from the theatre and Lola) were good.
Bad parts... 1-Bad acting, most characters were annoying, unpleasant to watch given the story etc, and unfunny.
2-The end feels rushed and could have been explored further and some parts I disliked of it.
3-Movie was sold as a comedy and yet its not... The "jokes" and "gags" are all bad.
4- The absolute WORST of the movie was something that shocked me... This was actually not a movie, but just a big add for a ..casino Website (Betclic.pt)..
Conclusion- I don't advise anyone to watch, the only big good thing is just that the story is good but the downsides really hurt it, specialy being a shameless add to a imoral buissness (casino/casino websites) that destroy lives.
Thanks for reading my review of "Patio da Saudade 2025"

This is basically a comedy which focus on the story of a famous actress who tries to revive the Portuguese revue scene!
The scenes were very colorful, gorgeous and well-filmed with great views of Lisbon and its ancient buildings. However, the storyline was hard to follow with no almost logic and very convenient resolutions.
Not really my cup of tea but an interesting piece for older Portuguese people to remember the good old days of the Portuguese revue with their nephews!

"O Pátio da Saudade" sets out to be a tribute to the Portuguese 'teatro de revista', suggesting that it can remain a tradition while also being modernised to attract new audiences. However, this aim is not realised. The modernisation is barely perceptible, as the production ends up relying on classic 'teatro de revista' formulas without adding anything new.
The story is very simple, repeating patterns already seen in countless other films, and the editing leaves much to be desired - the pacing is odd and does little to support the narrative. And although the film is intended as a comedy, the humour rarely lands.
As for the cast, there are highly talented actors, most of them from 'teatro de revista', who usually shine in other genres, but that is not the case here. Both the script and the direction make them perform as if they were on a theatre stage rather than on film. This was probably the director's intention, but it does not work.
With all due respect to everyone involved, the only actor who truly stands out is Alexandra Lencastre. Always an excellent actress, she embodies her roles naturally and is practically the only one who does not appear to be acting on a stage. Sara Matos delivers a strong final performance, but it feels isolated (and the playback is poor).
Overall, "O Pátio da Saudade" feels like a collage of scenes that are somewhat out of place and fail to create a harmonious rhythm when put together. The direction, editing, and even the sound feel disjointed, resulting in a confusing experience.

The Portuguese film "O Pátio da Saudade" is an opportunity to revisit the "teatro de revista" through the lens of the 21st century.
The plot is truly commendable, since it revolves around the revival of a theater - a legacy left to a strong-willed young actress, portrayed masterfully by Sara Matos.
The cast is diverse, ranging from well-established names to lesser-known actors.
The dialogues, despite some predictable lines, are engaging, and, in contrast, the silences that invite the viewer to reflect, are equally effective.
A comedy with touches of drama that moves and stirs emotions.
It is well worth gathering the family and going to watch this film.

And that is all there is to be said of this aberration. Horrible script, not a single funny scene, no 'humpf' whatsoever, no emotional rollercoaster, no spice, no sugar, no sweet, just bitter. Bitter for having spent time with a deadline of a narrative that consumed me of yawning and tiredness 2 minutes in.
