As someone who enjoys content that resonates with real-life experiences, the web series "Sarpanchi" on Chaupal hit all the right notes for me. It's a series that not only reflects the raw realities of village elections but also presents them in a way that's both entertaining and thought-provoking. I binged the entire series in one go, and I can confidently say that it's one of the most authentic portrayals of rural Punjab that I've seen in recent times.
The series revolves around the deeply ingrained political culture in Punjabi villages, focusing on the titular role of the "Sarpanch" (village head). It dives into the complexities of village politics, where power struggles, alliances, and betrayals are the norms. What sets "Sarpanchi" apart is its ability to depict these themes without over-dramatization, making it relatable to anyone familiar with the nuances of village life.
Jass Bajwa, who plays a pivotal role in the series, brings an innocence to his character that is both refreshing and integral to the series' appeal. His portrayal of a man caught up in the whirlwind of village politics is so convincing that you can't help but root for him. Bajwa's performance is a reminder of the simplicity and honesty that still exists in the heart of Punjab, even in the midst of political turmoil. His character adds a layer of authenticity to the series that makes it not just a political drama but a story about real people and their real struggles.
The storyline is tightly woven, with each episode building on the last in a way that keeps you hooked from start to finish. There are no loose ends, and the narrative is so well-constructed that you feel as though you're living the experience alongside the characters. The pacing is perfect, never dragging but also not rushing through key moments, allowing the audience to fully grasp the gravity of each situation.
The music in "Sarpanchi" deserves special mention. It's not just a background score; it's an integral part of the storytelling. The songs and instrumental pieces are beautifully composed, capturing the essence of Punjabi culture and the emotions of the characters. The music enhances the viewing experience, making the series even more immersive. It's rare to find a series where the music stands out as much as the performances, but "Sarpanchi" achieves this effortlessly.
One of the aspects of "Sarpanchi" that I particularly appreciated is its similar topic with to "Shikari," another piece of content that showcases the true spirit of Punjab. Both "Sarpanchi" and "Shikari" tell stories that are deeply rooted in the culture and realities of Punjab, presenting them without any gloss or unnecessary dramatics. If you enjoyed "Shikari," you'll find "Sarpanchi" equally compelling, if not more so.
Overall, "Sarpanchi" is a must-watch for anyone who appreciates content that is both entertaining and meaningful. It's a series that offers a window into the world of Punjabi village politics, complete with all its complexities and contradictions. The realism, combined with strong performances and a captivating story, makes "Sarpanchi" a standout series on Chaupal.
I can't wait to see more such content being produced, content that not only entertains but also educates and resonates with audiences on a deeper level. "Sarpanchi" has set a high bar, and I'm eagerly looking forward to what's next from Chaupal. If you haven't watched it yet, you're missing out on one of the best web series to come out of Punjab in recent years.

This series was an absolute breath of fresh air.
The direction, writing, and dialogue delivery were exceptional. The director paid attention to the subtle details that are often overlooked in most Punjabi films.
One scene that really stood out to me was early on, when Jass Bajwa and his family are sitting together at home, discussing the mandi rates. He casually mentions that he's going to Canada and promises to take them all with him - such a simple moment, yet so beautifully executed.
Gurpreet Ghuggi's voice contributions also deserve a special mention - absolutely brilliant.
I'm usually the kind of person who switches off a Punjabi movie at the first sign of poor direction or a weak storyline, but this one truly felt like a hidden gem : )

Sarpanchi 2024 is an absolute must-watch for anyone who enjoys gripping political dramas! Directed by Gurpreet Singh Palheri, this series dives deep into the raw and real world of village politics, where power struggles and manipulation take center stage. The storyline, centered around Baant's (Jass Bajwa) unexpected journey into the Sarpanch elections, perfectly captures the intensity of rural leadership challenges.
What sets Sarpanchi 2024 apart is its authentic portrayal of village life, combined with the dramatic tension of politics. The performances are top-notch-Jass Bajwa shines in his role, while Kuljinder Sidhu as Makhan Singh adds the perfect amount of antagonism. Sardar Sohi and Irwinmeet bring additional depth to the cast, contributing to a well-rounded story.
The series does an excellent job of showing the pressure and responsibilities tied to the position of Sarpanch, while also highlighting the sacrifices and moral dilemmas involved. The cinematography captures the essence of rural Punjab beautifully, and the music adds just the right tone to the narrative.
Sarpanchi 2024 is both entertaining and insightful, offering a unique perspective on the political landscape in Indian villages. With a stellar ensemble of over 90 artists and a storyline that keeps you on the edge of your seat, this series is bound to leave a lasting impression.
A thrilling, well-crafted series that is as educational as it is dramatic. Definitely worth a watch!

Wanted to watch this just because of Jass Bajwa and to see the rural Punjab/Pind life. But I was glued to the story right away. The authentic portrayal of the village life, and also showing how the politics works, how stoop one can go just to get votes and win, regardless of the consequences the voters and their family faces, such as their children falling victim to drugs, etc. Jass bai's performance is commendable. Sardar Sohi and Kuljinder Sidhu done justice to their antagonist roles.
To be honest, watching some their scenes and dialgoues made me mad when they fake to love and care for other people because all they actually care for are the votes.
Overall, a must must watch for everyone.

Great narration, directed , story all things are great. People who comes from rural Punjab , they can relate this story. Director and writer worked on small things. It was full of surprises. Until the end you cannot predict what will happen. You can think all the characters belongs to your family or near and dears. I watched this series twice. Jass bajwa acted top notch, Makhan Singh is also superb, Nek taya was one of the pillar of this series. Great work by other characters as well . Everyone give a justice to their roles. Thanks Chaupal for this masterpiece. I believe these kind of stories must show to young people.
